I live in a stupid hot dry desert. I was looking for a better solution for cooling. Has anyone tried using a 2- stage evaporative cooler in stead of AC. Do any of the HVAC guys think it .might be doable. Any input would be great. I have chronic low humidity in my area.

Are you planning to run sealed? I have used evaporative cooling to cool and humidify my vented rooms. Outside humidity is usually below 30%. When sized properly, I have had increases of 20-40% humidity, and temps dropped 10-15*F.
