A question about mothers

Hi guys...
First post for me... don't even know if I should be doing this.
But trying to get a little info..

Been smoking since I was 17 and am over 55.
Smoked great stuff in nam and tailand and laos
washington state...etc...etc...

Grown outside many times
sometimes with success
sometimes without success

Want to grow indoors a little to get a more constant supply for myself.

Now I have started some seed..
1. Rezdogs SD ibl
2. Serious seeds white russian and chronic
3. Soma's nycd.

(I don't believe I ordered seeds from the seedboutique
right to my front door--- but I did and I didn't get arrested....
so I am off to a good start..) :woohoo:

My questions involve Mothers and Clones:
1. do I decrease my chances of getting females if I LST then scrog the plants from seed?
I'll get a couple of clones off each plant during this process.

Now I see by reading the forums that a lot of you have mothers already and LST and scrog from the clones that are already female.
2. Can I do that from the plants from seed without decreasing my female to male ratio?

thanks
this is a great resource///
too bad about overgrow. I used their strain guide to pick my seeds..

you should be fine lst is low stress training so it shouldn't affect your ratio, alot of people do lst from seed also...good luck

using LST in a good enviroment you should be fine.I practice LST from seed all the time with sativas to manage them. I have found a real humid enviroment helps with my female ratio. best of luck

thanks Time2Unite and hurricanefaniam
thats what I was thinking.. with starting plants to grow outside I have topped
with a vengence and pulled thousands of leaves off and still had good female to male ratios...
just wasn't sure about under lights versus under the sun...
thanks again..over and out!

If you take several clones from each plant, be sure to label the plants A, B, C, and so on....When you take two clones from each plant label them A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2 and so on...That way when Plant A shows male, you know what clones to cull...Keep Records.....LC

everything is labeled....
because I want to breed my diesel ibl to
the chronic..then a white russian ... then hit it again with the original diesel father
then start searhing for great phenotypes.

I unknowingly entered into an experiment when I sprayed my week old seedlings with pyrethrins without giving it any thought. Well what happened was the seedlings almost died. In other words, this was about the worst thing you could do to a seedling.

Now if you are in the camp that believes that the sex of a cannabis plant can be swayed by its growing conditions or its pruning treatment then read on.

Well the poor things doubled over and I had to prop the cotolydons up with toothpicks and I thought that I had killed all 13 plants (bad number) for sure. I was thinking of just throwing them out and germing more seeds, but I decided to see if any of the plants would pull through.

Sure enough about 4 days later they started to perk up and ALL the seedlings began to grow again.

My thought now if the sex ratio of the plants will turn slanted to any particular sex?

To make a long story short out of the 13 seedling 7 male, 6 female. This is as close to 50/50 as you can get. The only thing I don't know as it wasn't a controlled experiment was what the ratio would have been had I not mistreated the seedlings.

Now as a result of my personal observation I DON'T particularly put a lot of creedance in the theory that you can control the sex of a plant, or increase the odds of producing more desired females.

What I can tell you for sure is that I wouldn't spray pyrethrins on a plant under a month of age.

IMHO go ahead and prune, train, LST your plants as soon as you want and just wait for sex to show. When I start from seed I tend to veg out plants until I can determine sex and take the lower branches to root for mothers and the second generation. I flower all the orignal batch of females to note quality and discard poor rooted cuttings form less productive females.

Good Luck
