A Mix of MGB's

Ok, ICmag’ers I am going NGB. I am posting this for a little help and criticism.
I have been doing my homework and have a very good idea of what I want and
THINK it will work, but like I said I still have a few things I need help with. I have
looked at just about all the NGB’s I could find or ran across on here, and took what I
liked and thought would work for my needs and put them together. I tried SketchUp
but could not get it to work like I wanted so I drew it out (but that does not do
anything to show you guys and gals).
Ok I am going for total stealth, odorless, light and hopefully noiseless (fans etc) unit. Although no one will be or should be looking around in the room where it will be unless I am there I do not want someone walking by or in another room to smell or here something and have questions.
To start off the whole box will be 3 chambers, Flower, mother-clone and utility. Whole box will be 60”(5’) Long x 24”or26”(2’or2.2’?) Wide x 48”(4’) Tall with a 4” kick plate to hide pvc intakes for fresh air.
The Flower chamber will be 44”(3.8’)Long x 24”,26” Wide x 48”(4’) Tall. The Mother Clone chamber will be 16”(1.4’) Long x 24”,26” Wide x 32”(3.8’) Tall. The utility room will be 16”(1.4’) Long x 24”,26” Wide x 16”(1.4’) Tall. This is just what I figured would give me room to fit things and not be to cramped or a fire hazard. If anyone has better thoughts would love to here and why.

Ok on to my questions am thinking of using ¾” MDF because of sound etc. Can I get away with smaller or a cheaper plywood??

Can’t decide on the light yet, would like to stay up around 60-80 watts per ft., but not sure how to figure that out. Here are the options 400w digital Hps with either Cool-Tube or Euro air cooled reflector( not sure witch 1 would do better for footprint in cab). Not sure if heat would be issue or just too much in there.
Or 2 150w Hps DIY vapor lights for total of 300w in 2 DIY Cool-Tubes or 1 DIY air cooled hood.
Or just a bunch of Cfl’s in bathroom fixtures.

Am going with a S&P TD-150 293/218 cfm 6 inch fan with probably a speedster speed control or some other. Am going to be either pulling from scrubber, cool-tube or reflector and then out back of utility room. Or pulling from hood or cool tube and then out back of utility and out scrubber. Would rather have scrubber inside for stealth but could make it work if had too. Is this fan enough or to much??

I have a few more questions, but think this is a little long winded, and do not wanna make ya read anymore right this minute. So feel free to let me know what you think would be best or what you do. Or ask about other parts I have not got to yet.

OOps The Title should say "A mix of NGB's" not Mgb's I tried to edit it but could not. If someone could fix it or tell me how....
Thanks

I ran 2 150w HPS lamps in a 44 x 22 footprint and it was nearly perfect. 24 - 26 might be too far away for the light coming from the ends of those 150w HPS.

Good luck :)

Thanks Hydro.
I think I am going Coco. Have done some looking around and think everyone has their fav. but not any really stand out for me. So think I will stick with Fox Farm big fan in soil, If there are any good reads for good coco nut.'s if someone would show me would love to read them. Or bad stuff or tips about FF also.
Still undecided about strain, there are sooooo many to choose from. Would like maybe a Hybrid 50/50 or 60/40 nice yielding small to medium plant. Would like to give a Scrog a go. Was thinking 3 maybe 4 plants in the 44"x 24"x48 flower area. Anyone know of a few good 1's?
Still unsure about the light, that is my biggest concern do not want over or under kill. Although a little more would suit me right down to the ground.
Anyone?

Ok I adjusted my measurements to make things more rounded so to speak. Over all will be 60"x24"x48 (same as was). Flower will be 42"x24"x48" mother, clone will be 18"x24"32" and utility room will be 18"x24"x16". Think I am diff. going with a 400 Hps. Need some help on the Cool-Tube or the Euro Air cooled hood though. And what to make it out of 3/4" MDF or smaller cheaper wood? To keep noise etc. in.
Come on help a noob out 40+ looked and only 2 responded.
Intake will be coming in from Pvc light traps underneath. 4 or so(not sure what size yet) in the flower and 2 or 3 in the mother clone. May link the mother and flower either from underneath cab or through wall. Would like to underneath to make it look clean and save space, but not sure if there will be room or will vent right. Question, comments? Let hear them.

It may be because there are hundreds, if not thousands of examples of what you are trying to accomplish. It may take some investment from you. Many folks spend countless hours in here researching and putting together a grow that best suits their needs and abilities. You are slipping into spoon feeding when you want all your questions answered in a few quick posts.

I guarantee the information you are looking for already has been asked and answered here many times. I would start in the DIY link section.

Now, I'm not saying that you won't get any help here...because you most certainly will...but, you are going to have to at least look like you are willing to put in the time and investment it takes to have a successful grow.
Just about anyone who stumbles in here gets all excited about growing the best pot they can imagine, and many want all the answers spoon fed to them right away...but only the passionate are going to succeed in this sport.

The "me right now" mentality that many have these days is simply not gong to work well with this hobby.

HeyShroomDude - I'm really feeling your pain about this one, I agonized over dimensions of my NGB design... and ended-up with something quite different in the end.

I had almost the same dimensions as what you're thinking of (mine was a bit shorter), but started to realize that there's no way to have this box be stealthful, because of the dimensions - let me show you what I mean w/ a Sketch-up scale of your box dimensions:

:2cents: No commercially-built cabinets are of these dimensions: something just looks kinda funny about it, and thus makes it stick-out. You may want to consider building it to 71" high, which would make look more like the commercially-manufactured cabinets.

I personally ended-up finding an armoir on the side of the road, and using that as a 1-room box, and I'm building a separate mommy box from a cheap commercial cabinet... divide and conquer!

Hey, good luck on your design - keep us informed!

I'm just about finished a box around the same dimensions but its all one big chamber. I used 15mm exterior hardwood ply (I'm not sure what that is in inches) and it's F'ing heavy! One thing I was surprised with was that there was even less sound than I was expecting it to make. So I would say go with the thickest, heaviest wood you can find/afford.

About the watts per square foot, you multiply the length x width to get your sq footage. So your main flower cab is 7.6 sq ft. If you're thinking of a 400 wt light, take 400 and divide it by 7.6. That equals your watts per square foot (for a 400wt).

I built a huge light rack of CFLs for veg stage. I think it fits over 4 or 500 watts of bulbs. I bought a 600wt cooltube when I was planning on a much larger cab but theres no way it's gonna work since I scaled down, although I will actually test it to give me an idea of the heat and then I'm guessing I'll need a 400 watt digital hps if I do flower in it. I've never used hps before, in fact I've never flowered indoor.

Good luck man. I'll probably post mine in a week or two so keep ya eyes peeled. ;)

Edit:

You are so right there buddy. That's sort of why I built mine, because I couldn't find any regular cupboards etc close to the dimensions I wanted. But now that you mention it, yeah, it just doesn't look right in that way.

I know what you are saying Hooiser. I am all about research, I am a member of a mushie forum and see that everyday from the "noobs"(like myself here) on the block. I joined this forum about 1 1/2 months ago(was just waiting to be approved) and have been reading and reading and writing stuff down and revising. I have read and saved everything I liked and maybe wanted to use. Most of the things I am asking are things that I did not run across or have not found answers to.
Sometimes you need that lil extra push in the right direction, from those who know their shit so to speak.

I know what you mean about it kinda looking out of place. Thought about that 1 many times. Was thinking about making it 60"(5') or 72"(6') Tall. But the 48"(4') makes more since. Want it to look like a dresser or a storage cab and the taller height I would not be able to put say a T.V or a 10 g. fish tank or my snakes aqum. on top of it to hide the noise(hopefully not any or very very little).
I am planing a scrog of about 1-3 plants so still needed some head room and figure with depending what light(meaning the cool tube or the air cooled hood)cool tube 6" tall and the Euro at 7" tall I will only have about 28"-30" or so of space from top of pot to bottom of light(am figuring about 12-13" of pots(maybe way off have not really looked at them)) and would like the scrog screen about 8-9" above the pot so that only gives me 20-21" of light space above the screen. Am differently not sure if temps and space will be ok!!
If someone could show or tell me if I am on the right track or not would like to know.
