A little Spanish outdoor 2013

Hello all.. first post here.

I just wanted to share my grow now i'm not so busy with the day job. I didn't get many photos at the start of this, but i tried to keep up with the camera as growth picked up.

The strains are Sensi Star, which i've wanted to grow since the early 90s, and Sweet Afghani Delicious. Both germinated in the last week of April, and growing in Bio-Bizz organic soil.

Sensi Star

Sweet Afghani in her final 70 litre pot. And enjoying the extra leg space Apparently i can only upload limited images for now. Ok, i will upload the rest later.

Happy growing all :thank you:

The Sweet Afghani lapping up the fresh soil.

Next year i'll make sure i've got everything in place so that plants don't get root-bound. I've got very little experience growing outdoors, and the Spanish climate is new to me. On the plus side, i'm having shit loads of fun with the extra lumens and the new challenge :dance013:

The Sensi Star has been a fairly slow grower during the veg period, although it's obvious she has been restricted by a lack of root space
She's crying out for fresh soil!!!

I can't seem to upload more than four pics. Is that a post count thing? I wanted to put all these pics in one post so that i'm not bumping my own thread just to get the photos up.

The DIY smart-pot and The Sensi Star showing her appreciation.

Hey AJ, nice to see some OD from ES, good luck with finishing those fat indicas there, here [just over on the mainland] it is too wet in September/October and I got bored to seeing rot and mould in the middle of a years growing.

I hear that. We're in the middle of a storm now. Sept/Oct is usually good here, but humidity will be a concern. I'm hoping the gods will be kind to me! Clear tarp and a fan are my other defenses.

Happy growing all!

One week later and September is with us and the rain has stopped. We had three days of on and off heavy rain with beautiful electrical storms. The sweet-afghani was brought undercover until the threat had passed, while the sensi-star stayed out and enjoyed the show

The forecast is hot and mostly sunny for the next six days and then the lightning might be back. The rains out here are usually heavy, but short lived, and we get the occasional, violent hailstorm that i'm sure could really wound a plant out in the open. I've strung a line between a tree and an eyebolt so i can throw a tarp over to keep the girls dry and protected if the weather's looking dodgy.

I'm spending silly amounts of time just gazing at these plants, usually starting early evening, and ending when i can't see anymore and the gf is getting jealous. It's so different to growing indoors. Not sure which i prefer at the moment. Indoor has many advantages, but i'm loving the sunshine right now...

Anyhow.... Pics!

Good to hear you are so well equipped AJ... fans are so overlooked for OD grows. On the mainland the weather is still up and down, it has been been funny since mid August, maybe we will get a warm dry September/October :)

Have you sprayed some BT on your girls ? Caterpillars can wreck the nicest buds here, in September I can spend hours not just looking at the girls, but pulling off caterpillars, searching through buds that look "a bit funny"

Good luck :tiphat:

The plants are in a sheltered spot. I like the idea of keeping the air moving on those still days when the buds are packing on weight. A warm, dry Sept/Oct would be very welcome. Fingers crossed!

I'm spraying bt and compost tea weekly, and check the plants daily. So far I've found three of the little bastards. The wasps are doing a good job too :)

Thanks for stopping by and good luck to you :tiphat:

Holy Cow Afghan Jack, those colas are just collossal, yet they still look like they have some filling out to do.

There is enough bud mass one just one of those trees to supply a daily smoker for a year. Nice photos of a job well done.

Thanks for stopping by amigo. Yeah, they both look capable of great things in those pics.

So about a month on here's how the plants are doing. The grow has gone really well for a first proper outdoor attempt We had some mixed weather here in the first half of September that allowed a little botryitis to show on my Sensi-Star. It was dealt with quickly and cleanly and the clear skies and sunshine came back to keep it away and boost the plants growth again. The last two weeks weather has been a blessing despite being too humid for my liking. The sun has really fattened the flowers up, especially on the Sensi-Star.

The Sweet-Afghani is done and coming down tomorrow, and the Sensi-Star will be down early next week. Both are dense, frosty, and stinky!

My nerves are slightly frayed by various challenges in the last five months. All you growers with large gardens deserve a lot of respect. Nearly there!!! Great adventures!

The plants are down, trimmed and in jars for curing. The smell and taste is developing nicely, especially the Sensi-Star. Over ripe fruit and thick hashy taste on the exhale. Quite energetic for a nearly pure indica, but keep toking and she'll put you to sleep. Very good smoke. Looking forward to enjoying her after a few months of curing.
