A lady in veg started flowering

I have a random question that I can't find any info on.

I've had a Mango mom for a while, long enough to flower a couple of her kids. I've been using my current veg cab and light setup for about 2 years with no problems with multiple other strains.

My mango mom started flowering while in veg. The other 5 strains' moms and all of the vegging clones have had no issues, just the Mango mom. She was a little N deficient a while ago, but she wasn't in terrible shape.

Any sweet ideas? She's healthy now and still flowering away after 2-3 weeks, so if it was stress-induced hopefully she'll reveg. If this goes on much longer I'm going to chop her up and clone her and hope one of the clones reveg, but hopefully it won't come to that. I'd rather not lose the mom, she's got a nice flavor and a great purple color to her...

I would bet she may be rootbound and stressing out about it. If you can't keep up-pot the mom due to space restrictions, then just cut her rootball down and re-pot her in her old pot. Stay on your normal feeding schedule and just give her time to adjust.

Some strains need 24 hours of light. I have a white russian that will flower or heavily preflower with 18 hours of light which almost make cloning near impossible.

Sounds good. I trimmed down my Apollo 11 mom's rootball before, so I'm comfortable doing that. I'll let her dry out for a couple days first to make it easier on myself.

Huh, I'd never heard that before. I'll keep that in mind if I can't solve the problem with up-potting her.

I don't think this is the case with the Mango because it's a cut from a friend's mom and he hasn't had any issues. We're both on 18/6.

This same this just happened to me and I am running 24 hrs light. I think that the rootbound issue is exactly what happened to me. Probably good idea to trim it back a bit. Thanks for the thread.

I had that same problem with mothers that were kept around tooo long--rootbound upon transplant
I thought posibly a light leak---but it happened under 24 hrs and 18/6 now I only keep my moms for a shorter time ,and I dont see that issue anymore
Jay brings up a great point with the strain coming into play........peace

yeah it happens because they are rootbound - also low light levels will encourage it. 18/6 or 20/4 is better for the plant than 24/0. they shouldnt flower under 18/6 or 20/4 unless they have strong autoflowering traits.
