i have a friend whos growing 5 speed devil auto.
there about 6 inch tall on there fifth set of leaves with the starts of growth at each node.
3 weeks old from seed.
under a 250w cfl blue for veg & 250w cfl red for flower.
canna A&B 20ml/10ltr
canna rhizotonic 20ml/10ltr
lights on temp 76 degrees
lights off temp 65 degrees
there a very nice shade of green
he was told that they only take about 8 weeks to finish from germ with a 5 week flower cycle so how tall will they be before they start to flower and what sort of yield can he expect?, i have no knowledge on auto flowerers and he's asked me.

He was told 8 weeks from who? expect more, probably 9-10 if he wants them to ripen fully

And about yield, there is noway anyone can know how much they will yield, there is so much taking a part in that, pot size, phenos, long list.... even with pics, and especially when they're not even close to finishing..

I searched Speed devil and found out one of the many sites claim it will yield 15-50g, so take 15g times 5 if he's running fem seeds and let anything over that be a good surprize.

From your description they sound about right for a 3 week AF, at least from the strains I have grown. Most of the AF's I have grown reach around 20 to 24 inches in height.
50 grams isn't too much to expect either. But only a couple of times have I ever gotten over 1-1/2 oz from a single AF. I haven't grown Speed Devil's before so I can't give you a "for-sure" answer, but it certainly isn't impossible.

Most of the AF's I have grown are ready to flower at week 3 and nearly all have exposed their sex by then. I have several that I have started on 12/12 just today at 20 days from germination. I know it seems like they are pretty small and immature at 3 weeks but other grows have taught me to ignore their physical size (they are genetically small plants) and just go by when they begin flowering heavily which is usually around 3 weeks.

Once in awhile I get a plant that that finishes in 9 weeks, but ordinarily they finish up about 12 weeks. Somebody else who has grown more than I have can probably give more precise info though.

cheers for your imput stress test, 2 days after i posted this question they started showing first signs of flower all five were 5-6" at there fifth set of true leaves.
i went to see them today now theres a big difference in size, 1 is 90cm 2 are 75cm, 1 is 63cm, and the last 1 is only 50cm. the 2@75cm and the 1@50cm seem to be forcing the buds out were as the other 2 look like there about a week behind a bit wispy but all seem to be heading for at least 1-1 1/2oz i reckon they should be done in about 3-4weeks so heres hoping.

forgot to add that they didnt seem to resond very well to the red cfl so he changed it to a 400w hps and he seen a massive difference
