A few question on making auto seeds?

Canada

Active member
hello

Fist off let me start with what I have curently (un-open)

1. pack of 10 seeds lowryder mix ( low orig ,low #2, desel ryder, purple ryder)

2. single seed Dinafem haze auto

3. single seed dinafem roadrunner

Ok now whats in the room:

I have a mix pack of lowryder started and in about 10 days of flower all dusted with pollen from one large bush male

This is my 1st attempt at breeding my own seeds so i have a few questions:

1. What type offeeding if any should i be adding when making seeds?

2.What light cycle should i be using for breeding (its been 24/7 all along)

And finally im curious about making fem seeds.

What would you say would be my best choies in making fem seeds? strains to cross and what method of breeding?

:plant grow::thanks:

quickest and easyiest way of making fem beans is to take a female plant and make her turn hermie then harvest her pollen and use it on another female, the resulting seeds will be fems

this works well if your producing seeds for yourself if you wanted to do a proper job you would use collidial silver on a female to make her produce pollen, either way your stressing the females to produce pollen

this is just a quick overview with a few key words thrown in if you google any of the above a more in depth explantion can be found :)

I would just grow a male, and dust a female... rather than stressing a female to the point of producing pollen...thats just me....

yeah but that doesnt produce feminized seeds???

not every grower wants the hassle of weeding out males when they plant seeds, some people like to fill there gardens with lovely ladies and concentrate on the end product, time spent growing males is effort when all you want is the sticky icky icky ;)

I'd say just read up on the silver nitrate/STS method, get the chems, and give that a go... cost you $20 tops. using a silver coin is going to cost you a bit more, as you'll need a good adaptor that you'll cut up, and a few bucks worth of wire and clips... be careful, one amp has killed before.

I thought silver maple leafs only came in one troy ounce size. If you know where to get them for 20 bucks (canadian, I take it), let me know, as I would like to buy upwards of 10,000 at that price this week, and 20,000 (or more!) in about two weeks.

I found them on a big auction site in stock bottles for $20. You might be able to get the silver nitrate at a pharmacy near you.

As I write, the spot for silver (minus comm) is just over $29 US. If you really can pick up OZs so cheap, they go on said auction site for more than $32 each (not including shipping) right now. You stand to be able to make hand over fist at such a low price.

I tried cs on two different auto strains per thread found on this site, and did not have success. I was glad I had a male to use.

doesnt the cs have to be a certain ppm for it to work sucsessfully??

the other way of producing fem beans is the soma method where you let the female plant grow beyond her harvest period and she self pollinates her self producing fem beans

again there a quite a few methods of producing fem beans, ive seen a product where you can soak your seeds and this will produce fem beans from reg seeds

http://www.hg-hydroponics.co.uk/evolution-solution-seed-soak-feminise-seeds-456-p.asp

not sure if its a marketing gimmick or what, but the main process of getting female seeds is through stressing a female

and whats with the neg rep on my posts??

I hope it is not. Cause that would be really nice for autos. Even if we could get a substantial increase in the percentage it would be worth it.

Will an auto live long enough to self seed? I have read about that method of letting them go past ripeness till they throw pollen. Yet autos with their limited life...it would be interesting to see if that works.

can you share your experience with all us here. what you did and how you did it ?
why do you belive it was that caused it to fail?

go with cs . make sure u brew it a long time try get a ppm tester $20) ebay . make the cs over 40ppm and you will have fem seeds .

The plant you fertilize doesn't necessarily have o be the one you collected pollen from.

Beside not having a high enough concentration colloidal silver whats are some other common mistakes in making fem seeds?

I sprayed CS, twice a day for a few weeks. Nanners appeared but did not result in any pollen. I tried two different auto strains and a friend tried a third strain and we never had any success.
