A couple questions about Autos outdoors...

Hey everyone...

So I've got a White Dwarf AF under about 75 watts of fluoros right now. I'm a bit worried about how well my box (PC case) is going to control the smell - and thinking I may be transplanting outdoors after another few weeks to finish them outside.

Is it OK to transplant AF plants after a month indoors? The weather should be warm enough by then - I'm just not sure how well autoflowering strains handle transplanting. I suppose I could always just bury the whole pot outside if it's an issue...

My other question is more general: this is my first grow and I'm most worried about stealth. I rent a property on some acreage, and thinking about planting in one of the outcroppings of trees. Nobody really ventures into these spots - private property - but folks do mow within about 100 ft. How far does the smell carry? Is it likely they would smell something when passing by?

Thanks for the help

first of all. the transition to outside will be fine. second. i would not have mj plants anywhere near where people have a chance of seeing or smelling them. they won't smell really strong until they start budding.

I grew a lot of outdoor crop last year. Started everything off indoors in med sized pots and then transplanted between 22 and 28 days, as soon as the girls could be identified. I'd say the potency of the stuff I grew last year outdoors (UK, June - August) was as good as what I grew under lights, the main difference being the yield.

I had Russian Rocket Fuel, Lowrider #2s and Blue Streak in with the Italian Kale, they stealthed fantastically, hardly any smell at all.

My maincrop however, not so good

Grew it behind a row of brambles, cleared area, max sunlight, secret tunnel in etc. No chance of being spotted... until 3 days before harvest, when the electricity board decided they better do something about the brush because it was 'within 20 feet of a pylon'. The blokes they employed hacked the lot down, destroyed my hiding place and had it away with the entire crop. Took the bl**dy lot!

Just shows, you can't be too careful.

I've been growing autos outdoors for a couple years. I also start mine indoors under a MH light and transplant outdoors after sexing. I've tried planting directly into the ground and growing in pots. Pots are my preferred method. Just try not to disturb the roots as little as possible when transplanting and they will be fine.

Autos, especially anything with diesel in it, can stink quite a bit. I've got some Diesel Ryders in flower right now and they can be easily smelled 50' away, especially on humid days when the air is heavy.
