A Couple of Tropical Mix Beauties

Greetings fellow horticulturalists! I am an outdoor grower at heart and by trade, but also a big time sativa enthusiast living at about 46 degrees N. Lat in Oregon-too far north for a good crop of most sativas and even a fair proportion of sativa dominant hybrids. It isn't the cold, but the mold, that gets you.

Anyway, I am lucky enough to live in a state with a sane attitude toward cannabis and am also a caregiver--I get to dabble in indoor and outdoor as a result.

In purchasing seed for the 2016 outdoor crop to augment the clone collection I grabbed some indoor gear. Always up for a challenge I also grabbed a 5 pack of Ace Tropical Mix (standard) to try and tame indoors.

Here is what I have come up with so far. Help in identification, even if it is mere speculation, is always appreciated. Click pics to enlarge.

#1

The first specimen is this wild looking but surprisingly well behaved lovely. No trichome production to speak of and I can tell I am in for a long ride with this one, whatever her background is. Any guesses? Here is some leaf detail:

#2

This plant has me a little smitten. It seems like since day one this plant has made its haze lineage known. As soon as she had visible trichomes they smelled unmistakably of astringent haze with a background odor of fuel. Now that we are into week 5 of flowering, a lemony element is developing in the smell. This plant is incredibly well behaved, and while the buds are not extremely dense, they are large and enticing. Any input on her ancestors? Some leaf detail:

green-genes77, Your state is much kinder than mine. We talked about buying a house there. Now waiting for North Dakota to get it's crap together. The last couple summers I have been getting humbled by the sativa gene. I love the challenge of making them the best they can be here. Still working on the indoor setup for sativa's. If dubi stops by he will be able to point you in the right direction. When I keep my first Old Timers Haze for 20 weeks in flower and don't have an ice cycle I'm popping the champagne open! Peace

Welcome green-genes77 :)

Thanks for sharing your tropical mix with us.
Great plants can be found in the mixes.

First one it's most probably a Zamaldelica very tropical pheno, less probably a haze/thai ... will confirm when she is more advanced into flowering.

The second one is without any doubt a nice Panama.

Best wishes for the rest of the flowering!

Tropical Mix Updated

Tropical Mix Updated

#1 Zamaldelica?

This one has started to build some good long clusters of flowers but still has a way to go. There are some very small visible trichomes though, and I believe this one falls in the spectrum of carrot, mango, sweet in the smell department. A nice plant, and a bit of a challenge in an indoor setup but fun!! Can't wait to try this in several weeks CLICK TO ENLARGE

#2 Panama

This plant has been a pleasure to grow since day one. As we come to the last stretch of flowering I realize I want to grow this plant forever! Vigorous, doesn't stretch much in flower, strong plant with no notable complaints about food, water, heat, insects, etc. A real pleasure to cultivate. Smells like sour fuel in a way that is totally unique. CLICK TO ENLARGE

Thanks for the intriguing, rewarding genetics Ace Seeds!

green-genes77 Very nice looking plants. I think I'm going to do one more grow of sativa dominant hybrids before I jump on the tropical ladies. Doing one Golden Tiger this year with some other 60% to 80% sativa's. I'm looking at some Guatemala's, GT's, Tikals, and some Purple Mexicans next summer. Oh yes there will be more Orient Express in the garden again. I have some tropical seeds I'm sitting on now. I want to feel I could do them some justice before I jump in. Peace
