9x600 or 6x1000 over 8x12 canopy

I would like to here the pros, cons and personal opinions on what lighting setup would be best suited over a 8x12 canopy. The setup is pretty much 3 4x8 flood and drain tables.

So what lighting setup would you choose and why. I would also like to point out that I plan to run somewhat smaller plants. Probably 2.5-3" max... AK47's.

so would you rather run 3 rows of 3x600 over a 4x8 flood table or 2 rows, 2x100 over a 4x8 table.

thanks

2.5" to 3" plants? So you're flowering clones? That's way too small but certainly anything even 5 times that size would be better off with 600's than 1000's as you definitely don't need the penetration.

Llamas got it right, for anything under 3' tall a 600 is a more efficient bulb, but you'll need more of them to get the lumens you need.

I think he meant 2.5-3 feet tall.. lol..

In my OPINION, not EXPERIENCE, I would rather run 3x600w over each 8x4 table, saving 10% electricity usage and only losing 30,000 lumens out of about 880,000.

you're also adding more points of light.

I dont know, thats just me. I use 3x600w now in an 8x4 now and if I could move my hoods out now and utilize all my floor space I would be money...not that it doesnt work incredibly well now, just my hoods are shaped so the end doesnt spread as much light on one end.

I am currently planning a 3x1000w + 3x600w in a 12x10 room. but I am far far far from that.

If you DO end up going with 600w, I would suggest upping the plant count and shortening your veg time. 600w dont penetrate the canopy and get the under-neath stuff as well as a 1000w.

Best of luck with your adventure!

3 lbs every 2-3 week huh... sound like I am planning a very similar setup as yours. If you don't mind me asking, can I get a little more detail on your AK grow in this setup?

How long do you veg for with the AK's?
Are you topping them?
What nutes are you using?
How many plants per table and what size containers are you using?
Lastly, what type of medium are you using?

3lbs every couple weeks sounds like a number I would love to obtain.

Any insight on the AK grow in your setup is much appreciated.

1k's intial cost is less, air cooling 9 lights is a shit load more fans and hoods, and you are forced to keep your plants short, less room for errors, put your tables on wheels and group them together to get the over laping light and be able to move them around for access... think about just them bulb costs.. ive used both and i prefer 1k's although 600 are alot cooler temp wise, good luck

.

to get on a cycle where you are pulling weight off every couple weeks, you need more then 1 room.

you have your mother/clone/veg room which is where you would have to store your plants for the 60 or so days that your other plants would be flowering..

you can do a grow where you stick 60 clones into flower on say october first, then 30 days later stick another 60 clones on another table in that same room... so after 60 days, youll then be able to rip down the first 60 clones, and replace them with another fresh set of 60 clones.... then just repeat this cycle...

to get on a 2 week cycle, you are going to need 3 rooms or 1 huge flower room....

I am running 600s now and am not impressed. I have run 1000's in the past with better success

Think about what you want. Setting up a perpetual grow is easy, just have to plan it right. Hell you could harvest every week if you wanted.

I personally would rather go one large harvest, get all the work done, then coast for a few weeks.
