99% female compared to feminised

I see seed banks offering both a 99% female and feminised seeds. What is the difference, I had always heard to stray away from feminised but don't know the difference b/w feminised and 99%. I am speaking specifically of barney's seed bank.

I noticed that, too. I'm assuming that maybe they say 99% female for the same reason that lysol "kills 99.9% of germs". I would imagine(or hope) that they use a method similar to Soma's for Fem seeds, but that's only my speculation.

I read something about GreenHouse seeds being able to produce 99% females, some genetic process of completely removing the Y chromosome from a plant somehow...

so genetically modified I guess, could be the same thing with barneys.

no its not genetically modified

there are 2 ways to get female or feminised seeds
firstly you have feminised (Like Dutch Passion) which use hermies to produce feminised seeds

second you can turn a female to male in the vegging stage using chemicals and produce female seeds

Do both produce similar amounts of female plants?

heres the GreenHouse thing I was talking about:

None of that. We developed a way to block the Y chromosomes in the pollen we use to make the feminized seeds.

bs?

both methods claim over 99% females from the seeds

as to GH I suspect there using the chemical approach to get there female seeds

so would there be a negative effect from getting female seeds by using chemicals? I know there are negatives about the hermie version but I am wondering about the chemical version

The natural method is recommended. As Soma(I think it was him)explained it, if you leave a few buds on the plant after you harvest, the plant will produce some bananas as a last resort to keep the species alive. And any female pollinated from male pollen from a female plant will produce 99% females. Some may herm on you, but they're just about all female.
