Not trying to be a smart ass, buuuuttt, a Google search of your title produced 27,500 results. That might be a good way to start. I just looked at the first link:
I googled it too, its just that for most of the units you need and hvac tech to install them, even if it comes with a "homeinstallation kit". Usually all that means is that you dont have to buy an pother parts for it in order for it to be installed, but you still need a tech to actually install it. I've seen units that are sold in the UK that are true dyi units, the fittings just snap-lok together.
the refridgeration system must be purged once its piped in.
all air must be removed from your supply and return lines.
if not, you got a shitload of problems.
mostly, youll fuck up your a/c unit.
it will be a $1000 piece of busted shit at that point.
A vacuum pump and a set of HVAC gauges will evacuate the lines for you. Your trying to remove any moisture inside the lines. Many of the split systems say they have the freon already installed. Maybe $150 on fleabay for gauges and pump. Its not EPA or OSHA approved but I've seen guys just flush the lines with freon(put his tin foil hat on first to cut the political mind control device off) for a minute before closing the valves and filling. If I was investing in a split system, I'd upgrade to one with built in heat so you kill 2 birds with 1 stone. We don't heat much but at least its all in unit, less clutter.
the excelair ac is a complete solution. Most of the ductless don't require charging but you need to vacumm the lines as 2buds has stated. It is not that hard to do.
What size are you looking for? there are many available.
