8" vs. 6" GrowLab 120L

Would it be more cost effective financially (power usage and cost) to go with an 8" vortex fan on a lower speed, or to go with a 6" vortex on a higher speed?

If you are worried about stealth then you should ALWAYS run an over-sized fan. Figure out how much air flow you need, find a corresponding fan model and then buy the next biggest one. Run it on the "low" setting or get yourself a fan speed controller.

Also it helps stealth, air-flow, efficiency and probably some other things to run over-sized ducting. If you run an 8 inch fan then hook it up to 10 inch ducting. This helps a lot and doesn't add much cost to the build. It lets you 'cheat' on your flow rates and go with a slower fan speed then you might otherwise get away with.

I agree with the lady.. Bigger is better with air flow. You don't have to move the air as fast to move the same amount of air, this makes it a lot more quiet. AND when your running 2 1000 watt lights in such a small cubic feet area you need to move that air fast.

By my calculations you got around 224 cubic feet. I would go with a 600 cfm fan. if your going => Filter => Fan => Lights => Exhaust. Make sure to get the exhaust outside the room of the intakes or it will be hot. Also the tent will implode (walls will suck in) if your not using an active air intake. So try not to have plants up against the walls.

I run the 120l as well. i have 2 600s in there. one fan exhausting the light straight through, and one fan sucking on a carbon scrubber in the cab outside the top exhaust hole. i do have speed controllers on them. both fans are HO canfan 6". things are working fine. let me know if you have any other questions since we run the same tent i figured i could help you probably as much as you could help me on fine tuning this system. wish i would have gone 1000s, but the 600s are fine by me. peace and smoke my friend.
