8" duct fan= 500cfm?

Just remember the inline fan is much cheaper, louder, less efficient, probably not all that well built...and I doubt it does 500cfm lol. The C-fan is your best bet ;-)

BTW, thats not a bad price

So, do you think the inline fan is sufficient enough to replace the exhausted air in a vertical setup with the intake going straight through a standard floor flan up to the exhaust at the top of the central column of the grow... Sorry if this is confusing. I can clarify if you need. Thanks

These and Bilge pumps show up from time to time. Everyone loves the design and price. Most, if not all, regret the purchase.

These are essentially axial fans, fine for micro and mini cabs where 50-100 cfm is all you need. If you need 500 cfm, Get a Centrifugal, mixed-vent, or squirrel cage (Vortex/Elicent/CanFan, S&P, Dayton)

Those fans are known as "booster" fans. They're designed to run in series with another fan to "boost" the airflow to up to the claimed rating (in this case 500cfm).

However, when used alone, they NEVER reach that high. They usually run anywhere from quarter to half that rating (in this case 125cfm to 250cfm). They perform even worse when faced with back-pressure or flow-resistance (ex. carbon filter).

What's sad is many grow shops advertise the boosted rating as the actual rating.
