8 brand new ballasts wont fire

ok. so some of you may have heard about my 8 digital ballast fiasco.. well my hydro store took all 8 back and gave me 8 600watt agro star coil ballasts.. i have aircooled reflectors and i cut the male plug off the cord for the reflector before and attatched a male standard plug to plug into this flip flop box i had.. well then i have a little cord that has a standard female and the reg. ballast male plug which i put inbetween the reflector and ballast now that i dont use the flip flop box..

anyways, it works with these dual 600watt balasts i had to buy.. i have 3 of the dual 600watt ballasts and they work flawlessly.. these new 8 though will only turn the bottom cm of the tube this light light faint blue color.. its not the bulb.. is the way i wired it up?? why can the dual 600watt balasts work? with both ballasts firing at the same time or only one.. the cords i used are all the same or better amperage/volts blah blah.. but most are the same exact specs..

Your output wires from the dual 600's may be different than the new ballasts. Try switching the wires around on the socket connection. The digi's may not have fired them because of a safety shut off. If they detect problems, they'll shut down.

Good luck.

the ballasts dont have independant switches for each socket?

8 ballasts wouldnt fire?? thats rare what type?

Personally I think that you wired something in your flip flop that didn't allow the relays to flip. You getting 8 ballasts not firing is a long shot esp. if they were in sealed boxes.

hmm.. sorry let me clear some stuff up..
the digitals had been destroyed in a power flux type issue.. manufacturer said the fuses should have saved them but didn't.. so they replaced them but i wanted coil ballasts so i got those plus the difference in cash. (the digitals DID work 24/7 for about 4 months while my flip flop did and STILL flawlessly flip between 16 bulbs.. after i rebuilt my room and tried to use them again they stopped working. so while i was getting the new coil ballasts, i bought (3) duall 600watt ballasts. they work just as fine with or without the flip flop boxes.. there are no power switches on my duals or singles. the duals have a switch to change from single to dual but you have to unplug the unit to switch the config.

then i got the new coil ballasts and my hydro store said she tested them and they were fine and now they dont work on my lights.. they are warrented for two years and i havn't done anything to them (the new ballasts).. its just frustrating.. i used wires that are all the same amperage/volt/guage.. if not they are within spec for a 600watt light most def.. all are rated for 1875watts atleast.. could a smaller guage wire but same amps/watt spec be bad?? i'm NOT using a flip flop right now..
