Wanted to ask some experts when I should harvest. I think I let my girls go too long last time due to the long recovery period they needed from excessive pruning. In fact I'm never pruning again lol. Is that what Jorge Cervantes has said? Don't cut the leaves off? Anyways, here are my girls. Lol this grow was in my attic but it's getting too hot during the day up there so I moved them back downstairs in temp controlled environment. You stone's think I'm close to harvest? I going to cut them down when the hairs are 70%-90% red/Brown. Let me know what you guys think. Good day.

I don't think you should make any judgement on turning pistils,instead use a magnifier to see the condition of the trichomes.Clear means too early.Some like to harvest when the majority are cloudy,I like to harvest when half are cloudy and half amber.Some wait until the majority or all are amber.It's personal preference and experience with a strain.Pistils are a poor guide for when to harvest.Nice plants.Edit Some folks like to harvest when the trichs are clear,they say clear trichs are a more uppity high and amber trichs more of a sedative effect.I've never really noticed this myself,and to me clear trichs that haven't started to degrade at all are just too early.Cloudy trichs are middle of the road you might say

what's the best way to check. I have a magnifying microscope. Inot the past I just cut a little sugar leaf off a main kola. I can't really take part of the bud. that would mess my bud up.

I only ever prune/top for training and airflow.

I always check a trich covered piece of leaf from up high on the main cola.Take a few samples and you'll have a good idea of how far along she is.

I'd pick a flower from an area that looks like the rest of the plant. Open it up and look at glands.

Old calyxes and plant parts mature trichs faster. As I've noticed.

Your blue widow should be harvested sometime around 55-60 days. I grow both blueberry and white widow. I like to pull them both around 60 days.
Since green crack is about a 60-65 day strain and purple kush is a 8-10 weeker. I would let that plant run about 9 weeks.
Everyone else is right tho. The only real way to know, is to have a loop and check your trics. Looking up the flowering times of that strain or of the parent strains can give you a idea.

Going to chop these babies down after a three day emergency flush. pics coming soon...... I've heard that this strain is prone to go hermy and I don't want no nanners in my precious gc nuggets so I don't no if I should try 48hr dark period right before harvest or just chop them in the morning before the light comes onext? Any opinions on this out there? No sign of herms any where so far....
