What’s up IC?

I’ve got 7 panama standards in 1 liter pots, organic soil, about 10 days above ground.

Ive only got a small veg cabinet and a smallish flower cabinet... but I’ve got another plant in the flower cabinet now 2 weeks into flowering. Veg cab dimensions 23” L x 16” D x 19” H with 2800 lumens of 6500k LED lighting and flower cabinet is 23” L x 16” D x 30” H with a HLG 100 LED panel @ 15,000 lumens. Not ideal I realize.

I can easily just keep the panamas in the little veg cabinet until the flower cabinet is free... approx another two months, by hacking them back bonsai mother style... and root pruning even if necessary... and Then take clones to flower out from there.

However, I have a question. I’m curious .... if I flipped all these guys to flower right now, I’m these small one liter pots ... approximately how tall would they finish off at? Obviously I would top them and can even tie them down some. Do you think they would stay under 2 feet?

Mr D

If you flip the veg cabinet containing the 7 Panama you should add more light. 100 - 120 watts would be much better.

Panama is much more manageable in a small space if you stick with flowering small clones.

Good Luck

Hey OZZ_

I honestly can’t give you any decent advice as I’m new to flowering small plants, it’s all a learning curve for me so far.

If it was me I would probably wait to flower them in your bigger cab but I know you have a nice big list of genetics at hand so if you fancy giving it a go...

Might I suggest you do something in between? Start to flower these in your veg cab in maybe 5 or 6 weeks and once the other plant is done you’ll have 3,4,5 females ready to slot into your flowering cab?

Hopefully someone in here can give you some more solid advice.

Good show mate! Been enjoying watching your grow. Lots of fun.

Hi Mr D... thanks for the input, I suppose I’ll probably just keep them pruned way back until my flowering cab is available, then go from there. Either way it’s still a small area with only about 24” height soil to glass heat shield so it will be a challenge.

Hey Pandy, thanks again. In 5 or 6 weeks I imagine these might already be unruly lol... but it’s something to keep in mind. At least I’ll have them sexed out by then and can have a better idea of what I’m working with. I could always give them a heavy tip and root prune, fill with fresh soil, give them a few more days of veg to recover then flip them to the flower cab.

Oh yeah, they would be easily be outgrowing your space if you let them untrained/unpruned for that time.

I’m wondering myself if I can get more out of my space by having around 5-6 plants heavily clipped to a single growth tip (or maybe a couple) just before flowering. I’m thinking it would either go very well or very badly lol.

For me Panama roughly doubled in size but I think when dealing with really small plants they can easily exceed that? I don’t think the rule of thumb is quite equal there. I could be wrong, but the GT/Honduras I just grew would have been like x10 stretch untrained. She was tiny when I flipped to flowering.

I saw that GT/Honduras plant of yours. Would you say it was smaller or larger than these panamas are now? Either way as it sits I think I’m going to just let them stay in the veg cab for now to sec them out. Then I’ll know exactly what I’m dealing with. I can collect pollen from the good males, and take clones of the females, then flower them out in the flower can when it becomes available.... sometime around the end of September or a week earlier. 👍

I’d say my GT/H was a little bit bigger than those Panama seedlings when I flipped but more importantly it was mature. I had been LSTing it and also cutting it back for about 6-8 weeks before inducing flowering so when it did get into flower, it responded quite strongly.

For reference, this is a pic a week after commencing flowering light schedule. It’s the one on the right -

Trying to flower seedlings, especially sativas, there will be some lag before they induce. Having said that, I remember Panama having a good strong flowering response in comparison to some other sativa strains.

Good info! Thanks! I’m gonna just play with them in veg then and see what I end up with. If they get to unruly I can always simply take clones and flower those out. I’ll proba do that anyway TBH

Hi OZZ,

Honestly i'm thinking and thinking about how to suggest you to make it work, but i seriously believe that height in your veg cabinet is too short, especially for a sativa from seed, also considering you are starting from regular seeds which need to be sexed first.

In your case, to start from a single or maybe 2 high quality feminized seeds of proven quality like Panama fem or Zamaldelica fem would make things easier.

Since in your current case you need to wait until your flowering cabinet is empty, left the seedlings to develop in the grow cabinet with low temps to avoid undesirable stretching, and prune them whevever is necessary if they are overgrowing the space, hopefully after 3-4 weeks of veg you can discard the males and let the rest of the pruned females to branch out, take clones of the females once the current flowering cycle is over and move the panama female clones to the flower cabinet for the upcoming flowering cycle.

Keep us updated and we will see how things evolve.
