6K Flip Flop Lung Room Design Help Please

Whats up IC!

I am building my parts list for a future build and will soon begin stock piling equipment.

I plan on running 2 flower rooms with 6K flip flop. These rooms will be 12W x 12L x 10H, and 100% sealed. Lights will be aircooled very well but will also have fanspeed controllers to maintain proper temps.

My questions are:

I want to install an air conditioner and co2 system in a lung room that feeds both flower rooms. I need the lung room to have multiple "shutters" so it can control both rooms, but it also neds to flip flop with the lights. I don't want to pump co2 and AC into the room thats sleeping.

I don't know how or what to use for the air supply "shutters", do you?

For air conditioning, I want something dependable with good reviews, and a little overkill is always nice. I am not familiar with the types or name brands people are using.

What type of air conditioner should I use? What brand?

I need a co2 system that has a sensor to be placed in the lung room. Will having one in the lung room ensure stable co2? I am familiar with most co2 controllers out there, even though I never have ran co2. Do you have a suggestion on a brand/model? Tank Size?

So a quick summary:

What shutters can I install to control the lung room on a flip flop?

How big should my Lung room be?

What type of air conditioner should I use? What brand?

What co2 controller would you reccomend? What size tank?

Will I need a seperate dehumidifier with the AC you have suggested?

If one flower room is cut off from fresh air supply during night cycle, will it need its own seperate dehumidfier?

I appreciate any feedback IC, thanks for all your help.

Ok I found electric duct dampers for opening and closing vents from the lung room to the grow rooms.

http://www.discount-hydro.com/productdisp.php?pid=303&navid=29

Should each room have its own intake and outtake fans? Or can I split the ducting from the fans and the electric damper 100% direct the air to the appropiate room? How are people timing these?

Seems like having one large intake fan and one large outtake fan both split into to, with dampers on each end, with the dampers controlled by a photocell would be the best way.

For a 12x12x10 room, what size fans would you use to move the air in and out in this type of enviorment?

Man it looks tempting to use propane co2 generators, a 5# tank will out last 5 20# tanks of c02 for my space.

Open flame scares me, how reliable are these things?

I should rename this thread, "PK thinking outloud"

lol bro looks like your talking to your self... -=]

as for a 18btu a/c i ran a 12k and it barley kept 2k kool however i wasnt in a sealed room at the time...

got to think about summer... it gets hot... are you actually rewireing your ballasts to run flip flops?

Rule of thumb is ~5kBTU per 1kW depending on local.. I'd shoot for more like 7-8kbtu so you have more flexibility with temps and the compressor will cycle properly.

If I were setting something like this up:

Have the CO2 gen in the "Lung" room as planned but I'd go about my controlling of the whole thing a bit differently.

Let the AC handle the extra temp and humidity put off by the CO2 genny. But I'd want separate sensors for each room. The way you are going to go about it, I feel you'd need wayy more circulating fans to ensure each room gets an equal quantity of CO2 when needed.

You want the flower room intakes on the ground seeing as CO2 is heavier than air. And, I'd go about setting the room up as a regular fresh air room. Carbon filter > Fan > dump to lung room. I'd want a big fan and speed control on the scrubber fan so I could have more flexibility on how much CO2 and A/Ced air enters. Besides, easy to down scale if you oversize. Undersized means new equipment.

I'd also want to run another re-scrubbing filter in the Lung room to be sure any stinky air was cleaned. You can't ensure no air escapes the Lung room without Negatively Pressurizing it, which would defeat the purpose of supplementing CO2 and kill the AC efficiency.

Running a separate Dehumidy in each flower room would be best IMO. You'll need less oscillating fans to ensure low RH air is available at all times.

To add, you could get a micro PLC and program it to handle all damper and fan on/off functions for @ $150 and save a bit of $ compared to having a bunch of photocells to control everything. See link in my thread, maybe give ya some ideas.

poopy- I should have labeled the thread different last night lol, I was stoned as fuck up until 9am reading and making parts list. Poopy, this is the flip flop unit I will be running, no re-wiring needed.

I'mnotcrazy- I agree with you about intakes being on the floor, that is what I was thinking.

"But I'd want separate sensors for each room. The way you are going to go about it, I feel you'd need wayy more circulating fans to ensure each room gets an equal quantity of CO2 when needed."

The room that is off should not be getting AC or co2 during the light out period, so I don't think two sensors will be neccessary, since the lung room will be feeding whichever room is on.

I do use fanspeed controllers on all inline fans. As for filters, don't worry I will do whatever is needed to ensure ZERO smell, you can never smell my grows. So 7-8k BTU per 1k? Each string of 3 lights will have a 740 cfm fan on the front of it pushing, on the ass end I am going to run each rooms 2 8" ducts into a Y, then take the two Y's and connect them to a 12" Max fan or whatever.

So basically, I will have all the air cooling I need available to help with temps, my air cool setup will handle the temps pretty well all alone, I think it will be more of a problem trying to keep temps up lol. I am running 4k right now in an unsealed room with 1 8" inline a 1 6" inline and a 6" booster cooling very well.

What do you guys think about propane co2 generators, pilot light or electric ignition?

I appreciate the feedback and welcome more please :), I will check out PLC in a bit, thanks
