600w Indoor DIY Wood CAB - Desperate

600w Indoor DIY Wood CAB - :tumbleweed: Desperate :tumbleweed: ( please advise me ) excuse my nickname but ive gone from stealth to quite obvious :tiphat:

Hey guys ive had another post considering my grow cab but ive changed up alot of things

Instead of using pvc im changing to wood as im hearing the pvc is toxic to the plants..... im using black&white silage, basically the same as panda film with 150pp. My wood cab design is gonna consist of planks with the following dimensions

110cm x 110cm x 190cm
43 x 43 x 75 inches

Covering with Silage Film apparently the same as panda film as its black on one side & white on the other.

Ballast 600w Accendo Electronic Ballast
Decided.

1x Birdwing reflector changed to Aero Hood as seen below

Lamps

Veg Metal Halide :
600w ( Unknown still on the search )

Flowering HPS :
Ge Lucalox PSL 600w
or
Sylvania Growlux 600w

Please advise me which hps would be most suitable for flowering, On the Metal halide side i may be able to pickup a Son-t if that will work well ?

Inline extractor 550 cfm ?

1x Centrifugal Fan Inside
2x Intakes for air (Passive)
DIY Carbon Filter

I will be getting a thermometer.ph testing kit, nutes, organic pro mix&some clones going aswell, really would appreciate some input thank you people ! :thank you:

PVC is not toxic to plants if it is then entire hydro industry is set up for a huge classaction suit. I have a question based on simple lazyness and wood waste, why not just do a 48x36x75? What kind of planks? Most ply wood is 4x4x8 which makes cuts super simple and still will give you 50w per square foot. and the left of 12 inch pieces make great shelves. Also from a cost and time savings why not use reflectix from lowes? Im just trying to save you a few $$ in set up money. What style and how many are you growning? Sog, Scrog? What strain? i will help if I can...

Vanguard, thank your for you reply, i saw alot of forums on the pvc issue im not saying all pvc materials are bad some of them can release toxins when exposed to heat and light so thats why im paranoid cause im using a cheap pvc used for electrical cabling. Ill be getting plywood but with a measurement of 5cm by 3.8cm ( 2" x 1.5" inches ) they are quite inexpensive so it makes it a plus ill also get more rigidity with wood what do you say ? 48 x 36 x 75 sounds better though it does make sense seeing as it will work well with how the reflector spreads the light. I was looking at getting a material like relfectix called sisalation here, i did however pickup the black&white plastic for 40$ & it measures in at 2metres x 16 metres, i live in a country where a variety of growing equipment is not really available. Im planning on Growing lst i will have to ask you guys how much you recommend me growing in a tent of the size you gave me, thank you again for your input dude !

In the US all new houses come with PVC for plumbing. So I guess we can expect a thinning of the heard over here.

The grey PVC you speak of is made for UV exposure.

Yeah look this one is pure white pvc, im really not sure but i dont think taking a risk like that would be wise ... just going to throw away money & lose out on grow time

I see where you are coming from stealth.

Where I'm coming from.
I use plastic rez's and distribute nut's through standard white PVC to each of the plants. I have plenty of spare PVC sitting in my garden space near the plants.

The water supplied in my house comes from PVC. I drink it. Bath in it. Feed it to the plants.

I think the person who wrote that article lives in a bubble. I can't prove it, but people who are afraid of germs and such seem to get sick quite a bit. Probably from weak immune systems from not exposing themselves to the world. On the other hand maybe this is what the Mayans were predicting. A zombie apocalypse from 60+ years exposure to PVC.

My two cents.
Peace.

I guess then we talking about completely different pvc's i do know that from what i heard it was from the grow tents people were buying that were letting off the bad fumes from the pvc, could just be the shit chinese pvc most probably cause most of what they make is quite shit in any case. The pvc i want to use is not exactly for plumbling though.. its electrical pvc piping, should this be the exact same ? On the other hand im also reconsidering the pvc because i have to grind each end to fit into my plastic 3 way elbows, there is not other place i can get these 3 way elbows from unless i import them online for $23 which is not money efficient at all... also would a 25mm pvc tent hold up a coolhood & carbon filter..

Maybe I was a little hard on you. I guess I didn't read that it was framing for the tent. My bad.
I did actually read some stuff on the web about PVC before posting at least.

I've seen the elbows I think you're talking for plumbing PVC at home depot. I don't know what sizes they carry.

I don't know how strong you need it.
Maybe you could make elbows. Like bolt a cap to the side of a 90 degree elbow. Or connect a 90 to a 'T'

Im using these green 3 way elbows/connector, they are 24mm in diameter inside, the pipes im getting are 25mm so sanding down to 24mm aint too hard, just dont know how strong this frame is going to be though, it needs to support the cool hood and carbon filter.

I got some metal conduit that measures around 23mm. Buy my tape measure is fucked up so I can't really tell. Or maybe you could find some to slide inside or outside your pipes to reinforce them

Sorry been out of town but i am a lazy American so i always go the easy route and a sheet of plywood here runs about 10 dollars so i could build a cab with your deminsions for less than 50 and have leftover for shelves. Light distrubution is key and with a 600 you could knock it out the park!

Doesnt look like its going to be easy for me to find 23mm pipes dude ive searched hard man.

Thats why ive thought of just using normal pine wood, it isnt that expensive, will be more rigid & it is not going to be a problem for me to setup & take down, ive got my panda film too so i rate its gonna be a decent frame even if i did have all the options for pvc i would still go wood, just my personal preference and joining pvc here having the least variety of all countries in the fucking world its like NO WAY lol worst option for me.

Im currently setting up my veg box which is a speaker box i made with plywood, its all done just got to slap 2 more fans in and a fat cfl or try make a plan with my 250mh.

Flower box is going good, still deciding between the Sylvania Grolux & GE Lucalox PSL
Electronic ballast sorted from a local supplier
Cool hood - Expected delivery March 2014 at the rate imports go here...
Inline Extractor - local supplier ( have to work out cfm loss with carbon filter )
Carbon Filter - Putting my DIY thinking cap on
Oscillating fan - Not too sure what size
Thermometer Sorted
Growing medium sorted ( nutes,soil etc )
Ph & Ec meter is too expensive... ( i would like to worry about ec though, any cheaper alternatives for now ? ... )

Thanx a big load for the help guys peace out !

It looks like people prefer helping people when there's plenty pictures, just doesnt make sense to me because whats the use of getting all ur shit & then asking for help and most is wrong ... advice advice, just doesnt work does it .

I would personally go with framing the cab out of wood but I would use drywall on the inside and then pandafilm over it or finish the drywall and paint it flat white. More solid and more simple to lightproof especially with drywall in there. The hardest part would be making a truly lightproof door for it which I don't have too many suggestions for as I've never done it.
