6 week veg, 2gal vs 3gal pots... which size?

Hello all... I'm in the process of planning out a new setup. Pure canna coco, drip irrigation with multiple feeds per day.

I'm running Gavita 1k's with 9 plants per light under an approx. 4'x6' footprint.

I'm set on either 2 or 3 gallon pots but not sure which of the two sizes to go with. I plan to veg for 6 weeks from rooted clone.

My gut is telling me to stick with 3gal but i've seen to many getting amazing results in 2gal but those guys aren't vegging as long as I am.

Any feedback is much appreciated... thank you!

There are a lot things that can effect root growth. The most important thing is that it is root bound early in flower. I've never got great roots in pure coco, seems to stay to wet. I use about 30% perlite and it drains faster on multi feeds.

I have the opposite issue. I have to much root development in pure coco that I am worried they might get root bound in 2 gallon pots.

I go from rooted clone into solo cup, into 1 gal then final 3 gal pot. Whenever I transplant I hand water and only when the pots feel a little dry... i pick up the pots to get a feel for moisture level. Take about a week after each transplant when I can start feeding them 1 heavy feed a day. Multiply daily feeds don't start until flower.

I think I'm in about the same place as you. Always run 3 gallon and average around 900g a light. I'm more than happy with the quaity and hate to screw up a good thing but all the 10 oz plant in 2 gallon stories have convinced me to try smaller pots this time. I only veg 4-5 weeks but once the root structure is there I don't see the benefit in vegging longer.

One thing I've noticed is a lot of those guys running 2 gallon pots and hitting big numbrs are running fabric pots. Those pots are kinda self pruning.

I have 2 flower rooms in this new spot. I might do 3gal in 1 room and 2gal in the other and see which works best.

I actually use to flower in 5gal and late in flower would water up to 2 times a day but usually just once. When I went down to 3gal pots i'm up to 3 feeds a day mid flower and got better results. I don't know if I downsize again to 2gal and work up to 4-6 feeds a day if I will again see a slight improvement. I think 2gal with 4-6 feeds might be the sweet spot but we shall see after I do a real world comparison. I think I might do a journal on this next run too....

The structure of this plant is awesome. Can you fill me in on some info....

- Do you go from rooted clone right into 2 gallon, if not what size in between?
- You're only running 1 open ended 1/4" line into each pot?
- What strain is that in the first picture and how are you training to get that structure?

Thanks Bud!

Rooted clone to beer cups then 1 gallon and to 2. Yep only 1 open 1/4 per pot. That's stardawg. I just lst and do a lot of pruning/de leafing.
