6 U2 Cabs Quad Grow Chamber

Tell me what you think of this folks. A little something I'm thinkin on building instead of a 430W HPS C13. The idea would be a SCROG in perpetual grow and the lights would only be on 2 at a time. The fan box either vortex or whatever would be insulated and the ballist and electronics would be configured safely in the dry cabinet. Could start with 3 U2's and build the remaining 3 grow chambers after the first grow is already on the "grow" Easier on the pocket and final build remains modular and transportable. Key when I'm planning to move in 2 years.

I'd call it...(this goes out to any Grateful Dead heads or Phish heads)

Hi

Hi

If you build it, they will grow. :chin:

You can raise and lower your lights with drapery cord locks. I bought mine at a fabric store...

I like growing my meds in my cabinets.

Thanks for the vote of confidence Cabanetforester...I like the pullies in your cab. Exactly what I have for supplies and will hang my airhood the same way. After some feedback in another post I've decided to postpone doing the QuadCab design and go with a 430W single Cab grow. I'll keep the idea for another day as it seems like it would be a fun project to try if nothing else. I have pics of my Mother Veg cab in my gallery if ya wanna have a peak. I'm flowering some LUI in it right now just for fun....cheers

HaHa! Wall of Pound! It better be....

Great idea with the drapery locks, cabanetforester. I think I'd feel better, however with steel cable instead of a nylon type string that will most definitely melt and break if it happens to touch a hot surface. I can't see that happening with your cab, but I tend to be concerned with the unlikely events, not the likely. It's the unlikely events that will burn you if you aren't careful. Never underestimate anything....especially with this hobby. :sasmokin:

LOL, well thank you HeadyPete. (I think that was a compliment?)

If you have temps anywhere near hot enough to melt braided nylon rope ANYWHERE in your cab you definately have serious problems with your setup and should look into outdoor growing.

Not only will your plants be dead, but you will most likely burn your house down in the process.

Now it is possible there could be a catastrophic earthquake and since my cabinets have not been designed by a seismic engineer they could tip over or be crushed by the imploding structure around them. I could be killed by falling debris or die from the resulting fire since my smoke alarms would be crushed and I could be trapped by debris. However if I used steel cable the cable might well survive the collapse of the structure and the resulting fire if there were one. LOL :sasmokin:

In all fairness the most likely event would be fan failure which could cause things to get a bit warm. I did simulate this and was still able to touch the hottest place on the hood with no discomfort.

The cord locks I use are not designed for steel cable, but rope. Using steel cable with this type of cord lock is not a good idea. If you need to use steel cable make sure you use the appropriate locking mechanism

Most people use chains and hooks to hang their lights. I think this would offer the most peace of mind.

Some people use those sunlift yo yo things to hang their lights. These use a small braided nylon string. You might want to contact Sunlight supply with your concerns. :dueling: J/k

BonsaiGrower- Nice choice with the LUI. I want to grow that someday, many have spoken highly of it. Going to check that gallery. MMM.. LUI LUI

Edit- That is quite the cabinet and the LUI are lookin nice and frosty. With your attention to detail and that new HPS you are going to have a hefty yeild. Peace. CF
