6.5'x6.5'x6.5' room setup

currently got a 6.5ft (275cfm) grow tent that i just put together with 1" pvc and poly. installed an 8" inline exhaust fan hooked up to a bigass carbon filter venting the room at approx 300 cfm's, so it should realistically vent the entire room at a minimum of once per minute.

have to put a light in now... probably a 1000 watter air cooled with a 4" fan.

my question is, with this setup, do you think i can manage a passive intake or should i look into adding another 4" for active intake?

also id like to keep the room scrubbed 24/7... but i don't want to run the 8" fan 24/7 cause its loud loud loud, and the regular speed controller im using right now isnt suitable for the fan (it makes it buzz). so my option is either put ANOTHER small exhaust (4"?) fan in with a smaller carbon filter for 24/7 exhausting and when the 8" fan is off at night, or to get a variac on a timer and hook it up to the 8" to dial the big fan down without the buzzing. any thoughts?

Man, you seem to be ok, why to you carry the sign of the beast? I would post a cross/weed pic here to oppose your sign, but can not figure how to post my gallery pics.

Not to me, to me is is the sign of the beast, and it means eternal damnation to all who behold it. It is not a name, it is evil itself.

This thread seems to be straying away from its intended purpose. How about an ozone generator if you are concerned about smell. I am pretty sure they make very little noise if any at all.

no need for the extra 4inch fan for intake. use the fan for exhaust and cut two holes the same size as the exhaust for intake.

perhaps i can help out. this is not the mark of the beast it is indeed the sign of the beast - but it is the number of man. and being a man it is my number:

hey guys, i have the same sorta issue.. well not an issues yet.

im planning on making a 6x6x6 room, 1000watt air cooled, 440CFM 6inch inline + scrubber..
i was thinking that I could keep the room sealed and run an AC/ which I already have but Im not too sure if I want to run co2 also..
how can i keep the AC cooling the air inside the tent efficiently while not having the exhaust fan suck out all the cold air the AC is producing

i believe i have a solution fatcat

To my understanding you want to fan/scrub 24/7 so that air doesnt leak out your passive intake?

well all you gotta do it put some ducting coming out of your passive intake(s)

this will lightproof you passives and you can then put dampers inside your intake ducting

that way when your fan isnt on, no air will leak out of the tent (unless its passing out through the scrubber)

but i think your best bet would be to use the variac and have your fan running 12 hours at 80% and 12 at 30%

this will give your plants constant air flow, which would be better in my opinion

if you need anymore help just post here,

and it would be nice if youd post your final setup because mine is very similar [2 yrs planning] =]

hmm that makes sense. good suggestion, thanks. right now temporarily i just set up a 4" fan on a small carbon filter just recirculating air in the tent at lights off. i only have a 400w in there right now but when i have the 1kw i think im gonna do what you say. and then instead of having a fan for intake im just gonna cut two holes like the other dude said. thanks to him too that was a good suggestion also. saves buying a third fan. ill post up some pics in a week or so!
