G

Has anybody had success with this mixture or something similar?

Does anybody have any thoughts on coco and soil mixes generally?

Thank You.

never done it but i'd say whenever you mix soil and coco be sure to treat the grow like a soil grow.. in this case the coco would only serve to lighten up the mix and allow better drainage.

you probably cannot do half coco half soil grow and try to treat it like coco.

Absolutely.

My thought was to treat it just like a soil grow and add nutrients whenever necessary, likely sometime during flower. Using bottled nutrients as the sole source of nutrients, as with pure coco or hydro, would be disastrous..

My other thought was that the coco in the mix would help the roots develop more thoroughly through the container. I'm not sure what to think in that area.. Drainage definitely improves when using the mix, that's for sure.

I've used Coco coir with FFOF, but didnt use a 50/50 mix. I used a 75%FOFF and 25%coco mix. But, i think that you could do the 50/50 mix without any problem. Just watch it carefully and experiment with more/less water, amounts of nutes and so on.

definately dont want to treat like 100% coco! gotta keep 100% coco moist, very contrary to the allow to dry factor of soil!

you should be fine w/ the nutes your used to. some coco will have built up salt & potassium that can cause def's. seems most flush the coco B4 using it. just some info have learned muckin things up w/ coco...

I would say that mix would hold too much water, definitely add perlite to that, at least 20%.
