5 plants, did I start fertilizing too early??

5 plants that are now 11 days old planted in a soilless mix of 66% Perlite and 33% Peatmoss. Under 184 watts of CFL lighting (placed inches above the plants in their own pc fan cooled plexiglass chamber). They've been watered once with pH balanced filtered water at day 5 and on day 9 fed them FloraNova Grow at 1/2 the recommendation for seedlings (gave them 1/4 tsp per gallon ~150ppm). I've been misting them with a few spritz from a spray bottle (with pH balanced water) every day. The leaves are starting to curl downwards.

feeding at 11 days is alittle early...I'd wait until 3 or 4 nodes have sprung before giving them a light feeding...ya might wanna flush because the feeding you already gave MIGHT have adverse effects...some seedlings don't mind a light feeding at a young age, but most don't like to feed that early...keep a close eye on 'em in the next few days, they'll let ya know...stay safe

seedlings need lots of air over the soil line surface...they also need a healthy exchange of air...(from a fresh source) it shouldnt take 5 days between watering....you want the soil to dry...when it dries the roots will expand in the pot seeking out water...chances are you have a small amount of roots in the middle of alot of wet soil.....whats the ph of the medium.....are they cold...whats your humidity....they definitely dont need feeding.....they also dont need misting everyday...will cause dampoff.....my bet is they are overwatered and or cold....

I am adding some new genetics from seed....heres some pics of germination area....

From the germination chambers they go into 4 inch pots...

I always put extra holes in all of my pots for air and healthy root development....The 2 pots without holes are really small and dont need it..

Heres a hybrid i made....DP Blueberry male crossed with Greenhouse White Widow female...

Good Luck....

^^YEP! 420guy is correct. They look over watered and dont need nutes yet. Also dont mist them they dont need it. I would not feed em till you see a set of true leaves.

ya, fed way to early, those yellowing cotyledons are showing that because it looks like you have overwatered your plants badly. How often are you watering?

Do you have holes in the bottom of the cup?

Also you did not list you have dolomite lime in your mixture, if you don't I am sure your ph is off then. Peat moss is acidic and has to be counter balanced with using lime.

Have you tested the ph of your plants?
How often are you watering and how much?

Grew these from seed.........plants at 30 days....like to go 45 days from seed...first 2 weeks dont really count to me....

there is ample ventilation: a PC fan providing a breeze and a Febreeze odor filter (very similar the Hamilton Tru-Air filters that are popular for microgrow boxes) that sucks air through a carbon filter and to the outside. the temperature ranges from 60s when lights are off and mid to high 70s when lights are on. i don't have a pH meter for the soil but I make sure that all the water that I give is around a pH of 6. when i mentioned dolomite lime at the local home depot the guy said u can't find it anywhere. i do have holes punched in the bottom of my cup, about 5 or 6 pencil-diameter holes. i have another plastic cup with just soil that i keep around and compare weights to figure out when to water. the plants are planted in plastic beer cups, and when i water them each plant receives about half a beer cup of water (it seems thats the amount it takes to get good run-off not just drips but barely a small stream). does flushing the plant mean just reverting to just giving plain water? and should I wait until the current soil dries before flushing or just go ahead and flush immediately?

thanks so much for your help guys, did hours of research but this is my first real experience

"the temperature ranges from 60s (wrong) when lights are off and mid to high 70s (wrong) when lights are on. i don't have a pH meter for the soil (wrong) but I make sure that all the water that I give is around a pH of 6.(wrong)"

Heres your problem......To acidic and to cold and to wet....ie stunted plants that will grow like a snail before they lock up or out......

I would say if you flush them.....you may end up flushing them...

so what should i do?

raising temperatures is not a problem. and what do you mean about flushing? is my grow over?

No its far from over..........Your grow is fine......lay off of the water and raise the heat......cold is the enemy.....seelings are strong but....can be stunted easily....cold will really do it to ya...they need to be warm....for instance a seedling mat runs at 80* keeps the seedlings warm at a constant basis...
70* in the room is 60* in the wet soil..... that is way to cold..
Seedlings like it a little warmer than the 78* we shoot for in the room.....
Stabilize your seedlings enviornment.......they will be fine.....just warm it up....

great. so i shouldn't flush until the next scheduled watering?

also, would it work if i just measure the runoff of my watering and adjust the ph of the water so my runoff is a pH of 6?

like stitch said above that moss is acidic..i hear that alot.........should look to get out of that....very tempermental medium....promix or foxfarm...will make your life easier.....water good when dry......

i just harvested ....way over a pound..... i grew this indoors from seed....just wanted to show it off :lurk:

just in case my the local home depot doesn't carry foxfarm or promix, what qualities should i be looking for in the soil? also, i've already bought FloraNova Grow and Bloom and being a student, it set me back a little so i would like to be able to continue using these ferts with whatever new medium i change to.

you wont find them at the depot....thats for sure....my home depot sells Jiffy Pro mix...got the lime and perilite ...its good...its inside near the jiffy pellets and clone domes etc its not outside.........if not ...theres other mixes and choices.....ask some other members ....i always use pro or ff...... i dont want to steer you wrong....your nutes are top notch ..simple easy and good....

alright sounds good, i'll definitely look around for those.

one more question, once i do get the right soil, how should i transplant the seedlings? they seem rather fragile.

i use a spoon......very carefully...u can leave some of that old medium around roots....roots are gonna be small and straight down....prepare other soil and plop them in.....
