5 gallon MP Mixer Proportioner -reviews?

Ok, so I can't find any reviews on the MP Mixer-Proportioner by Young Products Inc. Here is the sales copy:

The MP automatically mixes concentrates contained in the plastic bag inside the tank with water flowing through at the pre-set proportion of 50:1. (The 2 and 5 gallon MP's mix at an adjustable proportion of 30:1 up to 200:1). For example, if the application rate is 1 Tbs./gal., a premix solution containing 50 tbs./gal. can be applied at 50:1. Turning the pointer to "off" allows only water to flow. Dial proportions are the ratio of water to concentrate. The set proportion remains constant with water flow rate down to a minimum of 2 gallons per minute. Mixing takes place at the clear plastic outlet and is visible if the concentrate has color. If the concentrate is clear, coloring such as tracer dye, or food coloring may be added. Concentrate is used up when flow is no longer visible. The plastics used in the MP are resistant to all chemical and organic fertilizers. The tank is epoxy coated and will withstand water pressure up to 125 psi. The MP can be connected at any convenient point in hose or pipeline. Any type sprinkler, drip system, or hose end device can be used provided the flow rate is kept above 2 gallons per minute.

Place they sell 'em (not a sales pitch at all, just spreading info)

I just bought one of these at a great deal for $175, so I am wondering if anyone else has used anything like it. I do some hand watered soil growing and I notice that plants suffer due to lack of fertilizer. I use PBP, so I should be feeding at nearly every watering, but I just don't want to bend down under the lights to do it. I end up just blasting water all over them from across the room, which works, but not all that well, really. So i'm hoping this will let me feed almost as easily, I'll hood it up to a soaker head, then just crawl around under the canopy and spray food in the buckets. But also, imagine what you could do with pyritheum or neem and a mister nozzle... You could soak the shit out of spider mites. Make those little bitches regret the day they popped their ugly asses out of a fucking egg.

So, anyone tried it?

Oh come on...
No ones heard of these oir used them? Should this be in a diffrent forum? Perhaps just the general growing area?

I used mine for the first time last night, and it seemed to work well. I did notice that you have to drain the "output" side before you disconnect the input hose. As I understand, there is a bag inside the metal tank, and thats where nutes go. Then it uses a 'venturi' type affect to preasurize the space between the metal and the bag, so the bag is being squeezed. Then it meters the preasurized nutes into the water stream. I put a quick disconnect on the input and the hose to make life simple, and when I snapped it off, it was like a fucking explosion! The water around the bag is under preasure, and it all shot out at me! Scarry.

Otherwise it seems to be working well. The proportioner dial is a bit confusing... As you get to the higher dilution rates, like 200:1, the space between the settings gets smaller. So where theres an inch between 30:1 and 100:1, theres only a quarter inch between 100:1 and 200:1. There are notches between the 3 labeled settings, but they are at odd intervals and unlabled. only 30, 100 and 200 to 1 are labled.

So I put in a 25% solution of PBP flower, (one gallon flower, 3 gallons water) and I set it at 30:1 for full strength. (it should really be 32:1, but close enough, eh?) I'll guess at where 64:1 is if I feel the need to half strength or anything, but its not a big deal as long as I don't over nute.

Anyway, in general this seems like a good idea for medium size soil growers, the end effect is alot like what they showed on the dutch growing video with the tub of premixed solution hooked to a pump, except you don't have to premix which is a real boon for organic users where the nutes will degrade and change if left in solution for too long. I can feel it, this is going ot be the next big thing! -jk

I'm just going to give this a *BUMP* and see if theres anyone whos given these a try yet. So far mine is working great, though I'm going to add some natural food coloring beause with pbp I can't tell if the nutes is coming out or not cause the solution is just the slightest bit brown. I'm thinking a red. Perhaps I'll get a bit of it in the buds too. (hooray purple)

Well, thanks for stoping by, guys. This is mostly a soil thing, so it may have been better to put it in the soil forum, but whatever.
And yes, it is kind of neat. ;)

i think its great you posted here as i never go to the soil section and would have never seen it :p the possibilities are endless, you could incorporate it into an autotoppin hydro system or even use it inline to drip coco. (i think) i never saw one in person but goin from what i read it would kick ass.

gl GWG and i'll be watchin!

Yeah, I think an auto top would work even better, you could do a ph up or down if you had drift, or nutes.

Because of the need for 2+ gpm flow for it to be accurate, the on and off of the flow when using it in a sprayer may dilute output somewhat, since for a split second at shut off and turn on you might not have 2gpm, but I think thats not really a factor at all. It lists inline application with sprinkler systems on the 'can do' list, so I'm sure it could do drippers too, as long as you had enough flow. This may be a just the thing that can make organic coco a 'leave and come back in a week' system, since you don't have to worry about nutes settling.

Thanks, TheDopest, glad to be spreading the knowlege.
