4x8 tent w/600 HID and 315cmh

Yes indeed! New to this board (not new to horticulture) but am new to tents! Anyways..this is alot diff from my last go round a couple years ago (10x12 insulated metal building /open ventilation system)

So Im putting a 600 watt hps on one side and the phantom 315cmh on the other. I really want to see what I can get with a mere 9 something odd watts.
Ill most like do a dwc/top drip on the cmh side to help the 315 out to compete with the 600..haha.

Well I have my light and footprint setup and ran some temp test today....i dont like it.
Both running with 390 cfm going through cool hood and open around the cmh....91 degrees..thats with a 120cfm 4 inch intake of cold mountain air (around 30degrees) No good for me....Ive always shot for around high 70s but I do realize that will be very challenging in such an enclosed space.

The coolhood has glass...my cmh doesnt because i want to use it for tent exhaust too.

Setup for outtake: inline fan...ducting..coolhood 600...ducting..cmh (no glass)...

Solution 1....replace 6" outake 390 with 8" 710 that will run through cool hood and into cmh...will be responsable for cooling bulbs and exhaust. Add 6 inch intake

Solution 2...Run another 390 in other side (2 outakes...one for each bulb and also does tent exhaust) Add 6 inch intake

Solution 3...(prolly best) enclose cmh with glass...run 6 - 8 inch just for bulb cooling

Run 6 inch for tent exhaust. 6 inch fan into 2-4 inch intake ducts ( one fan with more spread intake flow)

I like this as ive always found...cooler lights...closer penetration...larger flowers.

Or ask the good people of ic....

How in the world are you guys cooling HIDS in these tents? Tricky stuff. I have an old industrial 670 watt 2500 cfm...but it would suck the walls in! Haha.....
Btw fans im using AC infinity s6 and ac infinity booster raxial 6 for intake. (Awsome duct booster).

Goal: HID in 4x8 tent with temps around mid 80s max.

Ive heard some you tent guys doing like 3 315s in a 4x8 even 2 1ks....tips welcome!

I have equivalent of AC....I have a window with 30 degree avg temps outside! Right behind tent!

Ok let this old schooler have it.... (Please do not recommend i switch LED) 😉

If u got the temps right u should try 2 315's and the 600 in the middle. Veg with the 315's and add the 600 for bloom. That would be my dream setup, probably with a light rail for the 600 for even distribution.

let er rip tater chip! I would like to watch!
Btw op that sucking in the walls thing you spoke of, neg pressure is actually a good thing imho. I guess dbl the venting if its getting that high.......the phantom is a vert cmh bulb i believe yeah?

Yes I went with vertical phantom. Not a fan of all enclosed ballast or the flat rwflectors. So I thought about 315 x 600 x 315
But prolly gonna go DE 600 and DE 630.

I really wanna see a de 630 in action
Then DE 1000watt cmh....who the hell tried that? Exqctly...i wanna try and see what it does!

Well....not good....at all.

1 290 cfm outtake (attached to onenside air cool hood hps)
1 250 outake hangs beside cmh

2 passive vents with open window behind..supplying 40 degree air today.

Heldnsteady around 84-86 degrees for couple hours this morning....figured id let it run all day....make sure.

116 degrees...is what i came home too. Id like it atb78....ok...fine....fine...gloves come off...no more fisher price vent stats.

Setting up now
1-,8inchPHAT fan 670 cfm at 167watts...wont need a speed control its gonna run wide open.

Little mad at hydrofarm right now....but the PHAT will do it. Big..kinda heavy...not very quiet...but...this fan does its true purpose. Durable and really strong motor..doesnt bog down. No on or off button...just plug and blast ass

Will show/explain new ventilation setup in a few. Grocery shopping

Added this

Added this

Also added this too the tent...pulls 210 from wall so prolly put a single dwc bucket under it.

So gonna have 6 in fabric pots /coco under 600 mh/hps.....4 in dwc under 315 ceramic and 1 in coco or dwc bucker under 210 led....im wanting to root ....top once early...and veg about 3 weeks with some list...then flip.... Feedback appreciated.

So...root...after solid rooting...3-4 nodes..top...after recovery from topping..veg around 3 weeks with some LST bending...flip...setnup trellis around 50% of current height. This is the plan

I'm going to make the presumption your exhaust leaves the building.

Lots of heat leaves a tent through it's walls, especially when the room around it is colder. It's only a tent.

Put a duvet on the roof, and drape it down the sides you don't open. This will cool your tent, by keeping the heat created, in a position you can extract it from. So it can't leave the tent and enter again. Your duct out the room is also of interest, as it can loose a lot of heat in a short run.

You can put 3 600s in with a 6" extractor if you work it right.
