4'x4'x7' tent / 400w hps / 175w me

this is the start of what i have available to me as of this afternoon. now i gotta decide what to grow the buggers in - was considering 2x2 [total of 4] buckets; but I'm kinda afraid of the water never really tried to make a serious effort before, but i've got about a hundred bucks [150 maxmaxmax] to setup this first stage, and i decided [the clones i'm getting are either or both fire og, and g-13]. So i'm starting a new job on monday, so also the setup needs to be fairly hands off [check on it once per day would be optimum]. 2 weeks from now i can get the rest of what i need - so since we're talking short time, i was considering getting a couple 18 or so gal rubbermaids and doing the diffuser hose/air pump/d-i-y style and going from there.

one problem: occasionally ambient IS going to be mid 90s - thus the thread rather than just starting with the water right off - advice!

go soil till the fall/winter when the temps are going to be lower. ambient temps in the 90's will mess with a hydro system unless you buy a chiller.

ok this is exactly the advice im looking for.

how soil should i go tho? i've read about some coco in rubbermaid type deals, soil, buckets, honestly its a bit confusing. i can say the clones come in a 1" rock-wool cube, attaching photo of one of the clones below

if that sounds like to much work/effort to make then go buy a bag of FOX FARMS OF and a bag of FOX FARMS LIGHT WARRIOR and a bag of hydro grade perlite. mix them all up and you should have a good start, you wont need any nutrients for a month

cheap and simple go with s. peat moss and perlite and start with that until you have more money. get a cheap N source or fish emulision to get you thru a couple of weeks and then when you get some more money buy some bat quano or a bloom fertilizer.

and im sure this probably doesnt help you but a t5 4foot 8 bulb unit would probably do better in that setup with high temps than a 400w would but im sure you dont wanna buy another light system while you already have one

yeah your probably right; i cant afford to buy another light at the moment, and there's another move happening after a harvest most likely, where a more customized/optimized setup could happen. however, i plan on putting both the mh and the hps on the plants for both veg and flower, since i happen to have em both might as well. the 400 and tent just showed up; white surfaces inside, 400w was an all in one but the ballast was detached due to weight limitations of the tent bars or so. the 400w light is a horti, supposedly only 20days of 1 cycle used; w/e - this is my first round, just more about not killing the buggers, doing some lst, taking clones, selecting mothers, may even reveg one just to see it happen [which means at some point between now and harvest i'll be getting a small mom/clone box built or something].

so is there some sort of recipe you can point me towards? and what about the constant transplanting i hear about? and soil+rockwool??

not to keep busting with you but where did u get the tent w/ the white insides? what brand? i dont kno if youve already looked at the tent threads but alot of white tents are made with pvc lineing and they cause horrible offgassing problems with your plants. it makes them look almost like a Mg deficency but its really your plant absorbing toxic gas, only getting worse with age and higher temps. i made this mistake before by buying one off of ebay and it was complete junk and i almost lost my crop. mayb not your case but id look into it.

everything you need for your soil can be found at home depot, lowes, walmart, and any garden store. real easy to find. you want spagumus (SP?) peat moss, it cost like $8 for a bale. you can use this for most of your medium. add 20-30% perlite. with more money you can buy guanos, ferts, some dolimite lime... get reading theres plenty of knowledge on IcMag.

the point is THIS is what i HAVE and i have to work with it. i'll look at the brand of tent in a sec. what i'm looking for is a recipe thus my request for same.... guess i'll browse some more. btw - this is my first few posts - been around before - read SHITLOADS for MONTHS - and tho it may not be true with others, i do read and search prior to asking.
