Have been reading posts on here for a while now, thought I just might join the community:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

My question: I am under construction I have a 4x4 tent with a 1000w hps I am waiting on some white Ryno clones I will have hopefully 10 ladies in this space .. I have read anything over 100w per sf is overkill.. So I was wondering what another 400w hps would do or if it would make a difference between just the 1k for my flowering plants. I plan on getting a small ac unit my lights will be air cooled.. Will I need co2 if I do run this setup? Thanks in advance

Seems like a lot of light (heat to deal with)

I would try a 600'watt HPS for flowering  .. 1400 watts seems like overkill, how will you cool it?

A 600 watt light perfect 4X4 cabinet.

A 1000 watt light for a 6X6 cabinet.

But a 1000 or more watts in a 4X4 cabinet is way overkill.

I use a 1000 in a 4x4 tent with great results. I only grow 4 large plants at a time though. I usually get between 5.5oz to 7oz per plant. No way I would add more lighting!! Lol.

If you are growing 10 plants in this space, I imagine you are gonna keep them small. A 600 would work fine if you are. My plants are usually 3.5 feet tall so I like the extra penetration from the 1000.

If you are set on using a 1000 though, that's ALL you gonna need!! :biglaugh: And unless you have a sealed lung room, I wouldn't worry about CO2.

16 sq ft with a 1kw lamp is 67w/sq ft. Perfect. Way unlit with a 600w in a 4x4 as well as 1000 in a 6x6. -granger

I prefer 2 600s in a 4x4....yeehaw 75wpsf..running a 400 with a 1000 isn't the best choice...proper light placement could be problematic as they are so far apart lumens wise..to get the 400 close enough it would prob block some of the light from the 1k...never mind that the 400 side will have smaller buds...just my opinion

I wonder about the energy bill......how much per kw per gram?

id def go with two 600's. but after looking at the 1000 bucks for the hoods lights ballasts etc. id go buy some heat sinks, led drivers, cree cobs, misc hardware and build a sick led light!XD
