Thank you so much. I also have a 8 exhaust thru an exterior carbon filter. With a sealed hood/reflector. I have a 61/2 height but my tray sits on my reservoir thus raising the height a foot. We will see in a couple weeks when it gets here. Peace sddI've been running a 1000 hortilux in a 4x4 tent for years. Works great. I have an 8" exhaust fan hooked up to a 6" magnum reflector (exhaust fan has a wye that also exhaust veg/dry area) and I exhaust it into a carbon scrubber instead of sucking thru it.
I occasionally get some tips that get bleached. But most of the time it's because I get greedy with the light and put them too close! Lol. With the reflector I use, I can get the tops 15" from the glass and no bleaching.
Temps in my lung room is 71F and temps at canapy are 75F. Also, have two 6" fans in opposite corners blowing in space between light and canapy.
I have a 600 Watt MH/HPS digital ballast and it can get warm in the Summer.
I'm glad Winter is coming as I won't have any more excessive heat problems.
I would think using a 1000 Watt in that space would require a very good air ventilation fan.
If your reservoir was outside your grow tent hooked up to a pump. Then maybe be able to regain that foot in grow height.
tent height will be an issue/ you will need to grow strains that dont stretch much, and even then you may need to top or train them.
Update, got the 1000 watt and hooked it up. Temps went up 8 degrees from 80-88. I had to raise the height to 20 inches away. Overall I love it. I have doubled the wattage and temps are manageable. The ambient temps will be dropping quickly from the 70s to 40-50. Training will be crucial. For the first run I am flowering early just in case at 6-8 inches. I will have 20 inches or so to raise the hood so........ I'll start a thread with Karmdown MemoryLoss Chemfire Sour Bubble and EastcoastFire soon. Peace sdd
That's awesome! Told you it would work! Lol. I know you are happy as hell!! Wait to you see the yeild difference. Def gonna be following your new thread I think some time this winter I'm upgrading to a 4x8 with two 1000w! Lol
