430w Bulb in a 400w Ballast

Hi every one! I checked w/ a couple different lighting companys about the 430w/400w thing. They all said that yes, you can use a 430w bulb in a 400w ballast, but that you will lose about 10% usable lumens w/ it. The 400w bulb is rated @ 55,000 initial lumens, and the 430w @ 58,000. So in other words, you actually lose lumens by using the 430w. Anyway, this is what I was told. Shine on! MG

Funny, I have a 430 ballast and I refuse to pay the prices of the specialty bulbs, so I just run a plain 400 in it. Works great and I save $$.

That would make sense, but I was referring to the opposite...a 430w bulb in a 400w ballast. MG
