I hook my light hook up to a extension wire or is that dangers ors because i have one of those cheap timers called Intermantic security can anyone help.
do you have the gauge of the extension cord...watt does the timers power rating say on it...it will be on the back of the timer it will say how much wattage it can handle
I would run it for 4-5 hours and then shut it off, as you do unplug it feel the connections if they are hot or if the breaker pops I would stop using the extension coord.... having said that most 'heavy duty' extension cords can easily handle a single 430w ballast/bulb
yes the heavier the gauge the better. 12 gauge is best 14 gauge is standard house gauge...The lower the number, The thicker the cable. The longer the length of cable matters as well but only if we are talking about 50 feet or more. Keep in mind that on a rock shows the lighting above the stage is 1k 2k 3k 4k and 5k lights...some are 10K lights and they get powered with 12 gauge cable. from the back of the stage where the Power Distibution racks are. So that said...a good ground, quality cable, proper ballast and ballast box you should have no fear whatsoever....Most hair dryers are 1200 to 1500 watts. That help reduce the stress?
