Hi all. I have a question reguarding my 400 W HPS sunsystem ballast. I was changing the capacitor and ignitor today, and when I attempted to fire her up again post capacitor and ignitor change, she would not work for me. I noticed that on top of the transformer, it said "use metallic capacitor case", and the capacitor I bought and installed today is encased in plastic. The weird part is, that the factory set it up with a plastic- cased capacitor from the get- go, and it had always worked fine. It's just a 5 year old ballast, which I recieved from a friend. From what I know it had always worked fine for them. I have had it for a month or so, and it didn't fire up for me so I thought changing the capacitor and ignitor would do the trick. So, my main queston is: do any of you think that my problem is that I just need to get a capacitor with metallic casing? Is there really a difference between the function of a capacitor with metallic casing or a capacitor with plastic casing? Thanks to anyone for any advice. I have spent a good chunk of my day just trying to get my ballast to fire up, and I am so tired and want it to work so badly.
