400W Ballast

I have a 400W HPS ballast and I was wondering if it was possible to use, say, a 150W on this ballast or is it specifically designed for 400W?

All ballast ratings much match lamp wattage exactly with the exception of 400/430W

Thanks. Is there any conversion bulbs I can use or anything to lower wattage - or does that depend on the ballast solely?

My bill was higher than I had expected so I'm trying to save some money.

Same conversion bulb as the ballast. 400w.

400 watts shouldnt be costing you more than 20 bucks a month to run...watts x how many hrs using watts x how many cents per kwh you pay and divide by 1000 that gives you the cost for the amount of hrs you choose in the equation...or just give me your numbers and i will do the math...have you changed your lights in your house to cfls? that alone will drop your bill
