400 watt vs 600 watt

With some math and looking up some DIY shit I can afford a 600 watt ballast and light. The 600 seems just so perfect for the 3x3 scrog that I am planning. But I have come to the point of cooling will one stanley be enough to cool a 600 and push through a scrubber? Or should I look into getting 2 stanleys, one for the light one for ventelation.

I'd go with 2 as well...one air cooling the hood (with a dedicated intake/exhaust) and one sucking through a scrubber to change out the room air.

deffinitly go with the 600, i wish i would have gotten two 600's instead of 400s, for the wattage, you gain alot more lumens. 600s are pretty great from what i hear. air cool that badboy, daystar reflectors will keep it cooler than normal sealed ones based on my research.. i've found in my closet growing journey. they help remove the radiating heat as to the fact that the reflector stays cool to the touch.. its not a huge differance in temps, i found over a previous reflector i had that my closet stayed around 5 degree's cooler using the daystar.. but whatever you chose, stay safe and have fun. i suggest with fan selection, go bigger than you need, and then buy a fan speed regulator and turn it down a little, its quieter than having a smaller fan at higher rpms.. good luck again mate.

Definitely agree with goin' 600, best lumen per watt lite out there. Once you buy a lite you own it. So don't get one less than you can afford. Adding a fan now or later will be cheaper and more logical. I use a Dayton 265cfm to cool 600's works great, but I am not in a cabinet, so I don't know how that space would affect heat signatures.

i bought a 400 and i wish i got a 600.. the 400 works alright for the veg. cycle but if you want bigger than finger sized nugs definetley go 600... the good thing about a 400 watter is i cool mine with a 70 cfm bathroom fan and it more than does the trick.. but my ducting is short and only 3 in. its a descent sized grow space for me anyway checking in at 3ft. deep, 6ft. wide, and 8ft. tall.... i have a 265 cfm squirel cage for exhaust and another 70 cfm bathroom fan as a intake... its not that pretty but it gets her done......

my hydro hut mini is 3x3 and use a 600 for flower with no problems. In fact I'm seriously considering a 1000wt hps to replace it. I use one 6" vortex pulling through an odersok and light. the temp in cab is only 3* above ambient

I grow in a 3x3 cab with a 400 and it works great but I really wish I had gone with the 600...
Buddy at the shop told me that the bulbs were almost twice as expensive when in reality it's only 10 or 20 bucks....
That stopped me for some stupid reason.... :bat:
Hey Wicked pete, how do you like the odorsok?? Is it workin for ya?
