Yes.
But some strains of sativas do better than others in lower light situations. If you can keep her under and fairly close to the light, you could do well.
If you want to yield well off of that 400, you'll probably want indica or indica hybrid.

If a heavy yield isn't a factor, and you just want sativa buds, then you can do it with a 400. You might only get a couple Oz but if you want sativa you want sativa. I suggest the c99 or apollo11 if you want a sativa bang on a plant that grows splendidly indoors.

Couldn't agree more with CC;)

Cinderella '99 is an excellent choice for a short flowering

sativa dominant, around 58~60 days.

I especially like the pineapple pheno :p ohhh sooo sweet! :D

Thanks for that guys - but will these short flowering sativas - do well under a 400 (moving to 600 - or 1000 isnt possible untill i can arrange some better ventilation) Would i be best sticking with indica dom untill then?

That's the beauty I found in C'99, she grows like an indica

but is sativa dominant. As long as the grow area is small

and the plants are not overcrowded, a 400w should be ok

until more wattage is added....more watts, more buddage!

Hey CHT,I love C99,it's my favorite sativa for just the reasons everyone described.

Never tried a 600w,but the jump from 430w to 1000w was a vast improvement in my grow.As you stated however, you'd need mucho ventalation.

Here's an alternative. If you read your ballast it should be a "S-51".With this ballast you could switch your bulb to a 430w Son-Agro or Hortilux. The added blue light will help control some of the stretch.

Cheers again guys

JLP I didnt know about the 430 son agro being compatable with a 400 ballast Thank you

Im sure to those behind this site the more activity and members the better - but from the point of view of me ie a grower wanting info - this seems to have og beat - simply for the speed and quality of responses

Small is beautiful - thanks again

400W HPS is adequate

400W HPS is adequate

I am presently ripping my hair out growing Nevilles Haze. I can't say that it is the 400W HPS, but the Apollo11 and Bubbleberry are in the same grow and seem fine. I have seen a scrog grow of Super Silver Haze under a 400 watter on OG, so I know that certain hazes, with the right technique, will due just fine. Or, at least, thats what I tell myself. You only have to look at DG's or JLP's NH grow to see what can be done.

I guess I'll see if DutchGrown is right, because I've got Bros. Grimm C99 that I'll be germin within the week.:D

You'll never know until you try.......................;)

Good luck

my first grow was green crack under a 400 w hps, and i thought it did great, ended up with like 4 zips off the one tree., but like others said, it was close to it, like 8 to 10 inches off the top,
