Try Ace Nepal Jam or Bangi Haze. I live in about the same latitude but near the mountains and 1st frost (the end) is usually about the first week or so of October. I have grown Nep Jam outdoors and it is good. Dubi from Ace recommented those 2 types to me and I want to grow Bangi Haze next year.

Whatever strain you go for, breed from it, that way the F2 strain will be more than adapted to your locale, next grow, easy 33% improvement

Im at 38.

sensi star for potency =9
Pinnapple Chunk - Barneys. Big yield, high thc and tasy. Ive grown it 3 yrs in a row
Biddy Early= Serious seeds. Excellent sativa high, vanilla taste. Top shelf
Blue Widow = Dinafem. One of the best outdoor strains available. good poetency, huge yeild and late sept finish. Top shelf at 40 n.
Dinafem recently released a new"blue". Their blueberry dad is one fast plant and produceds excellent plants that finish well, although their hash plant and therefore their blue hash lacks acceptable potenency.

For tough spots with poor shallow soil. Maple leaf indica.

Kushs seldom die of drought or cold. It can snow high in the hindu kush and the plants dont mind shaking a little snow off if necessary.

42N here, I've grown Nepjam and was a bit disapointed, decent high but lacking in aroma. at least compared to Panama, Golden Tiger and Mandala#1 (very recommended for short season) I also grown last year. I don't know maybe it was phenos I had but there were three plants selected from 10. also NJ had shown the lowest vigour out of those strains. wouldn't grow it again. I would grab Mextiza without thinking though, it's half NJ and shouldn't finish much later.

if you can grow through october then it's when the fun starts..Panama is out of this world, every plant is special. it's a bit picky and needs care though. defenetly staying with me this year again. if you're in guerilla or need easy to manage plant than Malawi or Goldned Tiger is your choice believe me. haven't grow SSH yet, but admit I was tempted. this year I'm also growing some Bodhi's, SSHxAppalachia among others, selecting for thin leaves here of course.

nice choices.

I can really work hands on with my outdoor garden so thats a plus.

Ive grown a bunch of early type strains over the years. Most lack the leverl of potency i want. BUT....

Ive found some that are excellent to very good in my opinion so ill share them.

Dinafems Blue Widow is on of the top strains for northern outdoor in my mind. Big yields, esy grow, finsishes fast = late september for you qne just potent as hell. Its fruity tasting and smelling.

Dig a hole, pour in 2 bags of ocean forest soil and whala! 1lb of qality smoke.

Thier blue thai is very good and the blue cheese is truly one of the most potent outdoor strains ive grown. Im familianr with the Blueberry they use and she finishes very fast and it passes on that maturation rate to its offspring while alowing the potency of the mommy to shing through. The Bw and the Blue Thai have the exact high of chees and thia with the taste and finish of blueberry.

Biddy early from Serous seeds. Sweet vanillla taste, excelllent pleasant high. Top quality all around.

Rox from paradise. The toughest plant know. Shake snow off, no problem, she growns on. Is totally imune to mould with good potency.

Youlll be happy with any of those grows but the blue widow.... i mean the blue cheese is stellar. The Bw is too.

I grew SSH last year, I'm at 39 lat near Sacramento. The plant did very well, one of the bigger plants I grew and it had a nice energetic hight to it. Handled moisture well but did not like the crazy wind storm that blew threw in early October. I had to harvest a week early... Lesson learned, use some kind of cage on big plants. Good luck.

I'd second the notion of hybrids from hell for the more nothern climates looking to pull great outdoor crops...

Their catalog is full of things custom bred for this exact purpose.

Good call, TJO.

I have little exp. at 43 north Great Lakes. Had Swiss cheese and master kush this past yr. Swiss cheese was nice n frosty and finished late October. Master kush. Some got mould in October picked it right away. Lucky withy a purple mk n it put on a show and was still growing when culled on Halloween. Weather was bout to turn to ice rain mix. So we pulled the plug.

I am looking for some ideas 2 on different seed cos with good landrace purist genes to do some climate centric breeding. I like tom hills deep chunk. I am sativa guy.

I am at 41 N. I have been guerilla growing since 1972. Outside plants start to notice that darkness is getting longer. They get triggered into flowering gradually with a transition phase. It is not like going to 12/12 inside and you know exactly when it starts. Some plants take longer to respond to the increase in dark because they need the dark period to be longer until they respond. Some sativas especially are hard to trigger to flower. So they can take longer than the basic formula I am going to give you. Some indicas trigger easily. As soon as the night grows longer they respond and could finish earlier than what I will tell you.

When growing outside it takes a few years of trial and error to find the strains that work good in your area. Once you find them you keep using them so you know you will have some finished buds. But each year you should add a new starin or two just to find others. This way all your eggs are not in one basket. You have the old reliables and some new stuff to try.

Here is the basic blueprint for 40 N. June 20-23 is when the longest day of the year occurs. 15 hours and 9 minutes of daylight. The plants you have outside are vegging like mad up until those days. Then after that each day the night grows loner and the days shorter. A minute or 2 or more per day. Until on Aug 1st there are 14 hours and 21 minutes of daylight. The night is now 48 minutes longer than on June 22. Many plants will have triggered by now. You will notice pistils forming August 10-15. This is like after 2 weeks inside at 112/12.

So I figure August 1 as the first day of flowering like inside going to 12/12. So it works out like this.

August 14 = 2 weeks

August 28 = 4 weeks

Sept 11 = 6 weeks

Sept 25 = 8 weeks

Oct 2 = 9 weeks

Oct 9 = 10 weeks

Oct 16 = 11 weeks

Oct 23 = 12 weeks

Oct 30 = 13 weeks

Nov 6 = 14 weeks

I never count on anything past Oct 23 because of a killing frost. However I have had years where a killing frost does not come until Nov 10 or a bit later.

Make sure you get 8-11 week strains if you are really counting on them. In fact to guarantee a harvest keep it to 8-10 weeks. But you can go as high as 12-13 weeks and maybe play with a 14 week strain but not count on it.

I used to grow skunk #1 and had great results. Most indicas will work. Really the skies the limit. I run Chem D and crosses, Chem 4 and crosses, MSS, Blueberry. Afghani is great and will finish and many afghani crosses. Get some afghani #1 and you can't go wrong.

This is what I have had out that finished in years past..

The White
Chem D
Cherry Pie
GSC
Triangle
Albert Walker cross
C99 x Panama
Krinkle
SSH
SSH x PTK
SSH x Salmon Creek Big Bud
Skunk #1
Afghani #1
Afgooey
and many more.

Hope this helps.

Good luck!!!!!

Thanks for the advice Ickis. Is that a super silver have x pine Tar kush? I would love to get my hands on ptk. I got some x-18 coming and deep passion for tom hill. Going to try and cross them

Yeah it is Pine Tar Kush. Those seeds came from cloneman back in 2006. I had good luck with Pine Tar Kush seeds I bought too. You have to watch it for mold though.

what about a Durban poison which im sure it would do well. I would also like a good purple to grow. and theres so many but I heard most are weak. what strains have you had good success with?

Durban's decent but be sure and go with Dutch Passions because Sensi's has been hybridized and has pheno's.

BLUE wIDOW AND BLUE CHEESE FROM DINAFEM!!! Both of those strains are soome of the highest qualtty outdoor ive grown and ive grow way more than 100 strains over the past 15 yrs and since store bought seeds became available.

Ive talked with one of their breeders several times about their Blueberry male. She has typicalb ueberry vigour fast fast fast and allows whatver has been crossed to shin throgh on the potency enc. You get the blueberry fruitiness, vigor, and finish date while the mommy provides the bud quality and potency.

Their blue chees is as good as any og kush strain ive grown.

Blue widow turns blue big time if it gets coo or you let it go long. The cheese purples up similar to blueberry. The center of the budsthe leaf edges as well. The Bwidow will produce a good lb and finishes from mid sept to late sept and the Bcheese is about the same. The bcheese is strait up fire. Top quality outdoor smoke. I believe its more potent than the straight chees and i bet some of the plants test well over 20 percent

Vigours as hell. Big stout blueberry planst than can jump to 10' if you treat them right. Dont top, theyre branchy alreaqdy. Super good disease resitance. Not so much drough. Theylike their h20
