just curious if anyone has used or heard of using engine exhaust blowers ,
here's the specs on one i was thinking about ,
im needing to save money but i dunno if this would be a waste of it , im likeing the fact its 12vdc and 240 cfm ,

4" intake, 4" exhaust.
Overall length: 5-3/4".
4-3/4" height.
Produces 240 CFM air movement.
12 VDC, draws 4.5 Amps. Use 6 Amp fuse.

What are you trying to cool down? IS this fan hooked up to any restrictions? (carbon filter, lots of ducting/bends) if so, then it wont be too good at all. It doesn't cope well with static pressure and looses all its cfm rating that way.

try going to homedepot of lowes and check out the bathroom fans. I picked up a fan rated at 120cfm and for 40 bucks CAD too. It is essentially a plastic squirl cage fan. Havnt hooked it up yet as i don't have a friggen ballast yet, but she should be good

im trying to find the cheapest way to cool my diy cooltube and cabinet.
the stanley blower sounds like it would be pretty damn good for the price , but
the engine exhaust blower is about 20$ while the stanley is around 50$
i dont have a carbon filter but ive got a 400w hps going in a smaller cab around 2.5' x 3' . and i dont want the sound of a plane takeing off in my house but i do wanna keep in bellow 80f for sure. what ducting i have isnt going to have really any bends and would be under 4' of tube .

try this its a 8" turbo fan from target $10 3 speeds then buy or make a 8"-4" ducting flange from home depot/lowes/etc.. i made it out of the bag it came in with duct tape & it works extremely well. i also run a 4oow hps it keeps the temps around 80*-85* with this fan on low

Lowes and home depot have "the blue blower" It does 150, 200, and 300 CFM. very easy to tape up and costs $50. The thing is 160W (on high I am assuming).

I bought it and it sounds like a vacuum cleaner, but moves good air. Not at all worth it though. It's 12v too but 5A...it was such a bitch to find a 12v convertor that can handle 5A.

A bilge blower is way overkill for plants. They're made to ventilate poisonous/explosive vapors from your bilge/engine room. All that money that goes toward making them explosion-proof is wasted on plants. A regular inline would be better and probably more effective
