4" exhaust...vortex or elicent...?

i need whatever is more quiet...will be installing in a grow tent. i'm ditching my rubbermaid cab and getting silly also i said F my 150W HPS and CFL and now am going with 1 250W HPS. tent is 3'X1.5'(20") and 5' high. will be maybe just a few plants and will SCROG. no scrubber will be on exhaust. i'm relying on the vaportek optimum 4000 and vaportronic small unit for odor control. maybe a ONA block too. kinda a stealth project...

Elicient is the quietest followed by Vortex and the noticeably noisier EcoPlus. If you contemplate expanding in the near future then go with a 6" Elicient as the 4" will be basically a dinosaur. The 4" has an opening of 39 sq. inches and the 6" is 89 sq. inches which is 228% larger for only a little bit more money. You can't get squat for a used 4" inline.

If you have the time to look or web order, get the polymer cased version, it'll knock another 6 - 10 dB off the noise level. It's the only fan on this type that comes in under 40dB

Have you checked out the whisperfan thread. I've no experience with them but, I know I'll never buy another Elicent or similar where noise is a concern
