3x3 Grow Tent

Hey guys, I have decided to put a 3x3 grow tent in one of my old coal cellars in my basement. I have enough room in there for another one, so one will be my veg room and the other will be a flowering room.

At the moment I have a 400watt MH light in there with 6 27watt CFLs going in there, and temps are a problem. When I first open the tent my temps are around 88 degrees, which is obviously way to high. My MH bulb is just in a regular reflector, not a cool tube. I'm wondering if I should just abandon the MH light altogether and load the room up with a ton of CFLs. The flowering room I plan on using a 600watt cooltube HPS bulb, with some CFLs to supplement it, so that room shouldn't be a concern.

Here is a picture of the tent, ignore that fact that there are 16 plants squeezed in a 3x3 tent. These are all growing from seed, and i'm just growing them until I can cut a clone from each, flower and sex it. Then cut out all the males and only keep 3-4 healthy mother plants.

I have a 4" inline fan blowing air in at the bottom, and another 4" inline fan blowing air out up at the top, with 2 6" clip fans circulating air around.

Now here are a few close ups of my plants, starting with my healthiest 2, which with my luck will end up being male.

And here are a few shots of some of my unhealthy looking plants, I have some yellowing at the tips, and a few plants with really deformed looking leaves.

And finally here is the super easy way I just set up the CFLs, I have no idea what i'm doing with electricity, so this seemed like the easiest way for me to hang them.

So any help on controlling the temps would be great, I'm seriously considering just getting rid of the MH and doing only CFLs for veg, but only if its gonna drop the temps and helps the plants. Btw I have to keep the MH about 2-3ft away from the plants just to have the temp in the 80s, so I doubt they are getting the full amount of light they could be getting from it anyways.

Are any of your tents vent flaps open, or is the intake fan the only intake air you get?

I experimented with opening up the vent flaps at the bottom, and it really only lowered the temp a degree or two. I decided to keep them closed because when I open them, theres nothing light proof about the tent at all. The light shines through the flap clear across the room.

Oh, and I should probably mention. I have the sensor for the thermometer right at the top of the plants, so the temps are what the plants are feeling. The exhaust fan doesn't really even blow out hot air, it feels pretty cool actually.

Also another problem. My humidity is terribly low in this tent, so low that it doesn't even read on the meter, it just says "LO". This will probably be a problem since these are in the veg state. Any ideas on how to raise it?

One of those cool vapor humidifiers would work to raise the humididty without adding too much heat energy.
