Saw it's the 35th anniversary of "Bloodsport" (1988)...Gypsy is in it and I think there's some stories about the filming on here somewhere. Haven't seen it in a while, might buy the DVD

One of my dogs was named Van Damme because of bloodsport lol one of my favourite movies growing up.

Resemblance is uncanny, I know.

Van Damme was always a character and there are crazy behind the scenes stories for many of his movies. During the filming of Street fighter, van Damme was on such a coke bender that the production company had to hire a wrangler to keep him at bay, but he ended up partying with them. Then when everyone was ready to shoot he sent everyone to the hotel because he had to work on his muscles lmao. The whole production had to be halted multiple times because he decided gym time was more important.

He made a movie a while back called JCVD where he plays himself. Highly recommended. At the end of the movie he has this long open hearted monologue where he talks about all the drug abuse, divorce, steroids, etc and his crazy career, and really bares it all. It gets quite dark. Pretty shocking to see a silly action movie star open up like that.

not to take away anything from gypsy or the movie but the guy the movie is based off of is one of the biggest martial art frauds in history.the guys a total liar.in fact i saw him in an interview recently on this guys channel on youtube called viking samurai.he interviews all kinds of famous martial artist.pretty good channel.heres a fun fun fact that of known for a long time.van damme was actually supposed to be the original alien in the movie Predator.yeah that predator.check it out on youtube.its funny

The fact that Frank Dux lied about participating in a "bullshido" martial arts tournament to the death just makes the movie better haha
