3 years since my last grow... July 2011 -Aerogarden Closet Grow

Hello All,

Budelight Here!! Im a micro/closet/personal grower in suburbia...

I was a member of 0verGrow's website in 2006-7 where i first started to dabble with the intent of following through with my grows. My first 4(ish) grows were in 2005 where i was just trying to see how difficult it would be. I now have the privacy and finally a personal space to try my growing.

I will be satisfied when i achieve a perpetual af setup and to do this i need much motivation from people like you. I am going to keep this hidden from my friends for as long as i can, so your tips/help/advice/criticizm is how i will learn and finally grow some DANK buds.

~FIRST GROW 2011~

Setting: My closet is roughly 8" tall, 1.5" deep, 5" wide. I have a classic AeroGarden with stock lights, a newly replaced pump & light arm, also, i have added an aquarium 4" airstone with a silent airpump for a 10gal tank.

Light: 2 x 26w normal aerogarden bulbs, and for durring the flowering period i have a 68w CFL (300w equivlent) which i picked up for $15 at HD.

Nutrients: I have a collection of replacement aerogarden nutes (some are slimey but look ok) which i will use every 2 weeks foollowing the aerogarden setting, and also adding Schultz 10-15-10 when the plants are more established (fear burning)

Air: I do not have a fan yet, i ordered a few usb fans from ebay which i will plug into extra Apple iPhone power blocks. The tempurature gets really high when the door is shut- Any Suggestions? - i cannot vent from this room. It is on the uper shelf in the closet, might move to the floor....

Hi All

Quick Update:
Plants are loving the setup. They are starting to smell like fresh fresh sweetnessss!
Got 3-4 really vigorous plants taking over the setup in the back row. In addition i have two runts in the front, one had to be moved into soil because it had started to die off in the hydro (not sure why exactly).
I have been using the aerogarden nutrient tablets and 7 drops of Schultz every week or so.

Notes:
I have purchased 2 cab's one premade, one i am "renovating" as a flower room.
My original goal was to attempt Scrog, however i quickly learned that i need to use clones(fem) or a fem seeds.
New plan is to top the plants and still try to grow an even canopy with lots of side branches growing towards the top.

Would anyone mind if I asked, how to promote healthy nodal growth?
My plants tend to:

• few shoots out of the nodes.
• have large spaces between their nodes

A "few" is fine. It's more than one and you're only supposed to get two.

Stretched plants are most commonly caused by insufficient light. Either too little or too far away. Note your 68w CFL is equivalent to 68 watts, if that. It is NOT equal to 300. For 300 watts you need: a 300 watt lamp, 4-5 68w lamps, or 11-12 of the 23-26w lamps. Note most CFL growers prefer the smaller lamps in larger numbers as the small lamps give the most bang for the buck even after adding in the cost of extra sockets and cleats.

I was aware that the amount of light might be an issue, i kept them within 2 inches of the tops of the plants to try and maximize lumens.

Looking back on my post, few was the wrong word to use. What I should have writen was only a few nodes have the beginings of any branches growing out of them... My goal was to Scrog with this test run before using $$ seeds. From everything ive read on Scrogging, lots of branches from nodes is a PLUS PLUS.

I will remember that about the lights the next time im tempted to buy a mother-truckin CFL for $15.

They're tiny, give them time. ScrOG will definitely accelerate side growth. The top tells the rest of the plant to get down and stay there, the plant obeys. Cut of it's head and the next two below take over, give orders, and the plant obeys. BEND the tip, the order gets lost or garbled. Now every stem is convinced it's the boss and will try to outgrow all others.

if the temps to high, just open the room during the day

Seeking Odor & Sound Advice

Hi All.

Need odor & sound advice.

I have a small ngb box im building using this case with INTERIOR dimensions of 19 deep x 29 wide x 28 tall.

My question is how to eliminate total smell and total sound coming from the box.

Improbable and not Impossible.
Thanks for any advice!
