420 ICM!

This is my second grow and if possible, I need help with a question about flowering.

I've 3 plants that have been in 12/12 now for 14 days. Two are definitely female and still waiting on the third to show.

Let's just say for simplicity sake that they will ripen in 8 weeks. My question is when do you really start to count the weeks? Is from the time you switch to 12/12 or do you wait to start the count until the first signs of flowers appear...or is it from the time sex of the plant is first seen?

If anyone could help to clear this up I would gladly light up a big old fat joint with ya if that were possible to show my appreciation.

Thanks kindly for any help on this.

Peace

GG

I wait to start the count once they show the first signs of flowering.

I think that the common reference is to count day 1 of 12/12 as the first day of lights on after the first 12hr+ dark cycle. Growing from seed screws up the timing, because the plant isn't always mature enough if you flip it to 12/12 w/o pre-flowers. I would keep reference points for both days, and figure that a clone of the same plant should finish 1-3 wks (from the flip, about the same amount of time from the first pistils) quicker than it's momma. Good luck!

Thanks for the feedback on this one guys.

barletta, I'll have a go at keeping track both ways to see how it works out.

It is counted (as far as I have read) from the first day of 12/12 whereas there are preflowers.

So if you put a already pre-flowerd plant into 12/12 it would be from that day on.
If you put a plant into 12/12 that has yet to preflower then the day would be from when it does flower.

Hey:wave:

I go from the first light period of the 12/12 switch, this is the way I was told by a grower with ten years experience and I believe this is the generally accepted time frame........

On the other hand other people I have talked to swear by the first signs of sex, I believe in going from first day 12/12 as said above and checking trichs to tell maturity.

Good Luck with your grow.....

Hmm...This has me thinking then. If the plants are raised from seed, the count start once the flowers appear. What say the plants are clones from known female mother plants that have never been forced to flower? Just their clones have. Would you still wait until the first flowers appear to count? Or go from the first signs of sex even though their known to be female?

Sorry for being a pain in the A**.

Hey,

I always, always count from the first "day" of 12/12 at a guess I would say it would be the same for clones as well as seed, maybe someone with more experience can offer another opinion.

Hi people,

i never count. I let them tell me everything. Say for example you stress them somehow (light leaks, transplanting, whatever) they will freeze for a while so u can't count that time.

It is the plant's signs (in flowering trichs color, mainly) you should use as your guide i say.

Good luck
