starting brand new HP aeroponics. never need to use EC/TDS meter but the water coming out of tap at other house was slightly orange sometimes do filtered anyway. so i received bluelab Meter and 0 EC and 27ppm using 500ppm mode. the pH is 7.2-7.9 depending on which faucet. am only asking if anyone thinks can pull off a round or two as is then invest in one that's quality when can better budget

Hard to say... Reading above 7+ pH is not unusual and can be corrected. But you can encounter problem with some salts ("orange water").

27ppm should be perfectly fine to grow plant in. Do you drink the water?

I have heard 150 PPM is cut off point, requiring RO filter.

I don't use an RO filter unless my source water is over 200 PPM you can also check the calcium hardness with a cheap test if it concerns you as higher levels of source calcium can cause PH neutralization however at your level I would not suspect it to ever be a problem

Have been busy and didn't notice anyone replied.. The weird thing is with my new Bluelab conductivity meter, the tap water reads 0 using both the 500ppm/TDS; 700ppm ; and EC. Returned a cheaper $40 hydro store generic brand that was showing 27ppm's? Of course i calibrated them but which one's accurate then? I love these Bluelab! Nobody mentions they take AAA batteries!!!!! Don't know about anyone else but am tired of those damned "SR44, MS76, GS14, LR44, SR44SW, SR1154SW, 303, V303, 357" sized batteries!!! Just the mere fact that there is 9+ names for one battery that isn't even lithium so why can't it have a couple names like AA/14500 !!! ha hahah ha
