250w HPS users....

ive been reading the hell out this thread and did not see a single grow go over 5 zips so please prove me wrong
thats as much as a 150 pulls maxed
so it seems 250ers have compramised nutes with just buying a bigger light
a ? for the peeps that swiched from 150 to 250 what was your yeild with the 150 and the 250
and one last rant the sunsystem 150 is recamended for a 2x2 room so why does every one use a 250 in that size room you can get more yeild if you get a bigger room and simply fill it all the way thats why 150s seem to push more its the stupid 50wsqft rule which is more or less the max sqft per watt not the least
do that and yeilds will follow

250 Watt is enough for personal grow but a bigger light would give you more light penetration - better for sativa dominant.

Check out ScrOG. I've done close to 1/2 pound off a single sativa with a 250CMH.

Anyone have a switchable ballast and use MN and HPS? I do - Sunleaves Mini. I just have a HPS bulb but I am going to get an MH next grow.

I do the Hydrofarm conversion unit....I want to expand my op for obvious reasons but I will start with adding a MH to that ballast and getting another one for HPS. Start 2x chambers.

22x29x54 inches.

The two main colas (once straightened out) were 20". Course with a 90 flower period following a 30 day veg, a little patience is required.

Nice demonstration as to what can be done under a 250 watt.

Do you grow from seed and then select a female for clones? You have separate grow area? How do you get your scrog girl going?

I start from seed. I clone before the flip just in case but, so far, I've not been lucky enough to find a keeper. I both veg and grow in the freezer. The pics above are from my Destroyer diary linked below where you'll also find my Thunk diary. The Thunk has a 20+ week flowering period and was pretty much 12/12 from the beginning. Destroyer has a lightning fast flower period (for a sativa dominant strain) of about 14 weeks with a 30 day veg period recommended from the breeder.

The freezer just happens to have shelf supports about 10" above my tub so I lay the screen on top of those. Had I built my own supports, I'd probably put them closer to 6". The sooner it hits the screen, the sooner you get the benefits.

Waiting for the first Thunk to finish was hell. Since then, I've had more weed than I can handle so waiting for subsequent grows has been easy and just buries me in more and more weed

Hey guys, I have not posted since the start of this thread and I thought I would update you on my Apollo 11 JW grow, 250HPS no less. Here they are at Day 35 Flowering. Then a bud shot of an almost ready bud. Yummm....

I am really impressed with 250's....I have 2, 400w HPS's and I think I will be switching to CMH bulbs since they seem to work better for both veg and flowering and have a broader spectrum...but you guys are pulling nugs just as good as my 400 it seems....I wonder if I would have been better off with 2, 250 w HPS's with CMH bulbs....though I am working on building a few hundred watt LED system...I wanted a 1000w HPS but looking at this thread it seems I just need to work on nutes and stuff like that...

bcell - I agree, Apollo 11 work perfect with a 250. I had one pheno that kinda automatically scrogged for me, lots of little buds, would have kept as mother if i had another place for moms.

I think you can do a lot with a 250W in a cabinet. Veritcally it's just about perfect for a cab. In my setup, if I ran the cooltube independently, I could probably have 8 plants going at once in 1 gallon soil bags. I like this setup so much I'm thinking of building a separate cab for another 250W cooltube setup. Super stealth and super effective!

Here's my current C99 BX grow 30 days through flower. They get plenty of light and have plenty of space for more plants.

Wow, page 65*. I finally made it.

First off, Happy 4/20 everyone. Hope things with all of you are well.

Bought a cab off craigslist yesterday. It should be here tomorrow or the day after. I saw a picture but have no measurements...don't need them. I can make due with what I've got.

I'm looking forward to being a 250 member. A wealth of information and decent folks...I'd be nutz to go elsewhere. Looking forward to talking with you all soon.
