250hps voltage?

I was gifted a 250 watt HPS light for my next grow, only problem is that my friend said it was configured to run on a 277v current. Is there any way to convert it to household 120v?

(or toss me a link where this is explained?)

It really just depends on how the ballast is made. If it's a multitapped ballast (usually have 4 wires coming off the ballast marked with 120v, 207v, 240v, & 277v) all you have to do is disconnect the 277v wire and attach the 120v wire in that wirenut. If the light came from a larger commercial building, it very well might not be multitapped - in which case it's going to be better used as a boat anchor unless you are one of the few with 3 phase power in your house.

lol....I was calculating in voltage drop for him :D

Should be 208v, but if you can't use the 277v then the 208v will never get used either.
