240v Timer for 2x1000w lighting help

Long time lurker, first time poster. I've learned a lot electrically from this board during my current grow (first grow). I've succesfully ran a new 120v circuit for my veg area and done countless other electrical tasks that I would never thought I was capable of 2 months ago. With all that said, setting up my flower room seems to be getting the best of me and my confusion has lead me here to ask a few questions.

I'll be running 2 1000watt HPS for the flower room, both ballasts are 120/240v and currently just have the standard AC plug you see on all 120v devices. I plan on picking up an Intermatic t104 tomorrow and have re-routed a 30amp 240V circuit formerly hooked up an outside AC. It has 2 hots and a ground so I'm aware this will be an exclusively 240v circuit. I understand how-to run the circuit into the intermatic, but after that is where I hit a roadblock. So a few questions:

Can I use my existing cord/plug that is already hooked up to my ballast? I've read some stuff saying that the cord itself is no different, it's just the plug at the end that would specify 120/240v. Additionally, I've seen pictures of other t104's wired into what appears to be standard looking receptacles (2 vertical slits and a ground rather than a sideways slit), are these pretty standard receptacles or are these just 120v 20amp receptacles wired with a 240v line?
