2400 Watt E&F Grow Factory

Ok, I am in the process of looking for houses to rent or possibly own. This will be my 4th grow. Have done one with a 600, one with 2 600s, and one with 2 1000s. The last two will be finish in four weeks and two weeks respectively. Both are decent size grows but have partners. This one will be me by myself like it should be. I just need to have complete control of everything for me to even want to put my time into it.

Flower Room:
4 600w HPS over two 3x6 Ebb and Flow trays using hydroton
6'' vortex to cool lights
ac unit
possible 8'' or 10'' fan for exhaust along with carbon scrubber
Trays will be run perpetual with new clones going in approx every 30 days. So one tray harvested at a time about every month (30 days).
Plan on vegging week or so just to give each clone 3-4 tops. Plan on running 9 plants per light.

Mums/Veg:
1 400w MH over 3x3 E & F tray
take approx. 25-30 clones and once rooted veg for 1-2 weeks in mum tray. Cull runts down to 18 total plants going into one 3x6 flowering tray.
Clones go in every 30 days approx.

E & F tables have been the easiest and most efficient method for me so far. I plan on harvesting each tray about every 30 days with a target of 2-2.5 lbs per tray. This number will hopefully move to above 3 lbs. with CO2 which I am still debating on and will definitely wait til everything else is dialed in. I have various strains that I will be running and trying to find the best in terms of yield, high, and smell. When I get everything up and running with a journal I will discuss strains and whatnot.

I do have a few questions though.
1. What size ac will I need to sufficiently cool this room, keeping in mind summer temps get to high 80s and 90s?
2. Is one fan enough for 4 600s or should I just get 2?
3. Is it better to recirculate the air with a scrubber or exhaust out roof with vent fan and scrubber, keeping in mind the ac and possible CO2 addition?
4. I would like to run the lights on 240v circuit and the accessories on another 120v. What would be the best way to wire the room? I have seen the dryer cord plug kits that run 4-8 lights on a 240v. but I would rather have my buddy wire it or me do it myself. How hard is this type of electricity to wire?
This will all be in one bedroom of a 3 or 4 bedroom house that will be completely undetectible and hidden from the outside. The mum/clone will be light sealed probably in my Jardin 4x4 tent. The flower room will be enclosed will visqueen or some reflective material in a approx 8x8 area giving room to work with. Rezes will be under tables for space efficiency.
5. What size rez is best for a 3x6? 50 gal? 70 gal?
6. Will 1 week veg be enough to produce full canopy in the given area? I know this is usually strain dependent but with some vigorous supposed good yielders. I am either going to run 2 (one per 3x6) or 4 strains (one per 3x3).

I've been around here for a while but never posted much on my activities. It is now time for my own spot and op so here we go! This planning does tie into what I am looking for in a house that is why no spot or preliminary setup. Thanks everyone in advance for the help.

Lemme throw in my two cents here...

1. As far as the A/C goes, the bigger the room, the smaller A/C you can get away with. If you just do the one Vortex for all the lights go for something between 8,000 and 10,000btu.

2. If you get two you Vortex's you can get away with say a 5,000btu A/C.

3. If you get CO2, you can just sit your carbon scrubber on the floor with the fan on top, this will keep air recirculating in your room, plus you have the added bonus of the CO2 that settles to the floor being kicked up to the ceiling to "Fall" again.

4. Get yourself a nice digital or analog Intermatic 240v Timer ($40-$60) and run your pigtail to a 40amp line to the timer. The timers have wire receptacles that fit more than one wire, so most of your splicing will be taken care of inside the timer box, which is a plus, because 40amp line, and the 20amp lines you're going to run to the individual light receptacles are made of solid-core non-braided wire. Keep pliers handy.

5. Go with the 70gal.

6. If you're topping them, which I'd recommend at your density, I'd give them an extra week.

Anyways, good luck with your project, let me know what works out for ya.

Nice. Thanks Marquis.

Would it be better to vent out the roof or invest in CO2? Only reason I hesitate with the CO2 is I want to have the controller and set it up right. This is, however, costly and I would like to dial in everything else in the room first then supplement with CO2. Is it worth the money right off the bat basically?

Hmm.. Tough one... You're experienced enough that it will be worth it the first time around, but at the same time, it's about $100~ for a 20lb tank, $150~ for a solenoid, and about $500~ for a good controller. If you have the money, I say go for it. It will make your environment slightly easier to deal with since it can run a bit hotter.

But to be honest, if you can put it off for one round in this new system, you might be happier. I personally would have liked to have seen a side by side, with CO2 and without. You might appreciate it more if you end up with numbers that show without a doubt the yield advantage of CO2.

One things for sure, though. Don't just get the tank and the solenoid and inject using a timer unless you can put an exhaust fan on a timer and exhaust every three hours before reinjecting. These set-ups are inaccurate in my opinion and you could easily over shoot the 1500ppm range which will actually be detrimental to your plants.

:2cents:

Let us know what you choose to do and how it works out for ya!

Thanks a lot there Marquis!

I think that CO2 would definitely be highly beneficial. One thing, though, I have only used CO2 caveman style just opening it myself (in the noob days, will never waste like that again). I would like to see one run without then subsequent runs with the CO2 system on a controller.

Another thing I thought of today: Would 2 1000s on a light mover, one over each 3x6 table, be a better/more efficient light setup? I am leaning towards 1000s now just for bud density. Or maybe 2 1000s and a 600 stationary? Thoughts anyone?

2 1kw on a light mover sounds like a great idea, I was actually thinking about something similar for my setup with 2 4x4s. Obviously it would be more beneficial in your situation, though. 2 1kw plus the stationary 600 would be really nice, but good luck finding a good place for the 600. But then again, you already have the lights, so I say go for it. Lemme know what you're thinking as far as where you would put that 600.i

Yeah that was my main concern was that the lights and they wattage distribution wouldn't give me a good spot to hang the 600. What kind of yield would I be expecting with the 2 1000s and a mover? I am leaning towards this now because 1000s simply give better bud density. I could do 2 600s over one table and one 1k on a mover over the other, but would rather keep it all 600s or all 1ks. Want this setup to be really clean not all thrown together.

What do you plan to yield off those 2 4x4s Marquis? I need the room to yield about 2 lbs every month which should be fairly simple to achieve with 2 3x6 tables, harvesting one per month, and the proper light setup. Just working my way through it in my head and on here so I don't waste money and have the ideal setup pushing out enough for me and my patients.

As far as my 4x4s go (Which I don't actually have set up at the moment, hand watering in three gallons, figured I'd flower my mom's while waiting for clones to root) my main issue will be plant density. Looking at something like 20 2 gallon pots with 2 weeks veg. A pound per light will keep me happy for the first two rounds (moms + first 4x4). But I don't think I'm being terribly optimistic by hoping for 2lbs/month (2lbs/table) after I get a strain dialed in. Just remember. The only thing that's sure to set you up for an unsatisfactory grow is placing high expectations on it.

At the right plant density you should have no problem getting 2lbs per 3x6 seeing as that mover will without a doubt up your GPW. Good luck!

Thanks for the help Marquis! I'll start a journal here in the coming weeks hopefully and let you know how it goes.
