240 Volt Fan for Ballast

Ok,

All you wire nuts out there. I need a little help. I'm going to be building some new ballast in the next couple of weeks and i was wondering. Is there a small fan out there that i can mount to the ballast box that can run off of 240 volts? I've seen the nice little units that run off of 110 volts from the hydro shop's but was wondering if there was a 240 volt fan out there. Reason, i'm asking this. Is the older style ballast tend to get warm and a little hot. I want a built in or on fan to keep it cool all the time. Any help would be great. I'll be doing a construction thread on "How to build a Ballast". So, those wondering how to construct the old style "Non Digital" ballast can see what's involved.
Thanks,
BG

Don't know how handy capable you are: Link

Hey pumpkin,

Thanks for the post and help. I think i got a easier way and i can't believe i didn't think of this before. I've got to run it by one of my Electrical buddies, but since i'm running my ballast in 240 volts. I think i can tap into the power cord coming into the ballast box and run off of one of the + legs. 240 volts is two legs if i'm right. I don't see why i can't tap into one leg and feed the little fan. I just need one of those small axial fans to keep everything nice and cool. I guess will see soon enough. Thanks for the help and will see if i'm right or not. Anyone knows, please feel free to jump in and say so.
Thanks,

Well, found a fan that will do the job. The answer to the question above. No, I would need a neutral wire for that to work. Here is what i found and only $24 bucks at grainer. If this one isn't enough CFM's. They have another unit with twice the CFM's for about $50 bucks. Looks like i'm golden now. I'll make sure to link my Ballast Construction thread here.
Thanks

These fans run at both 50/60 hertz. For some reason that section didn't copy and paste here. You are right about the hertz. I'm also looking at the next one up with ball bearings. These are sleeve bearings and don't know if they will be able to handle 12 hours straight use or not. Not worth the chance if you ask me.
