This tent is on sale right now for 75$ from HTGsupply...measures 20x36x64
Will a 250 HPS and 125 CFL be enough for flower?
Is anyone running one of these tents?
Here is where we are right now....Rez chemDD and williams wonder, Legends mountainmix, and lemon skunk(old colorado cut not greenhouse)
yep i picked one up a few days ago and I'm trying to decide exactly what I'm going to do with it...I've got some seedlings under cfls in it right now. I really want to put an air cooled 400w hps in there but heat is a major issue anyway, i might not want to push it ... I do have a window a/c to play with so maybe i can work something out with that ....?? I dont know yet, any suggestions?
400 would be great but heat issues would arise, with ac and a good fan you should be ok. I am trying to set mine up a little steathier, with a 250 cmh bulb so i dont have to get so crazy with ventilation
I'm thinking its going to have to be a 250...i really dont want to mess with the a/c, its already been more trouble than its worth. I do have a 150w i could supplement with. I'm thinking 250 and the 150 on its own closed air cooled circuit and then another fan with a scrubber sucking air from the tent. Both fans in the attic and ducted down. I'd like to go with 4" duct since i can easily do 4" holes and I could diy the cooltube for the lights. Do you think 4" will do it or am i going to have to step up to 6"?
Since its such a long skinny rectangle I'd like to mount the light perpendicular to the length of it but with the air cooling thats probably not going to work out. I'll have to count on having 2 lights(250 and 150) to spread the light over the 36" length...sound alright?
I have used this size tent with an air cooled 400 watt hps, worked fine. You should have at least 2 inline fans (3 is best), one for the hood and one each for intake and exhaust. You will most likely run into heat issues regardless of what size light you use if you do not have good ventilation in there. I would say go for the 400, once the cool fall weather comes around you will be fine and have a better yeild than if you would have went with smaller lights IMO.
i just realized 250+150=400....der. That would probably run just as hot or hotter than a single 400, yeah? I guess I'm just going to have to test some different set ups. maybe run the 150 as a CMH with the 250 hps ? maybe a single 400 CMH ? I'll figure out the configuration but before I try I really want to know if I have a chance of keeping 400 watts cool in that space or do i just need to stick with 250? Like I said I'm going to air cool the lights from outside the tent and into the attic. It sits in a room that stays about 78 deg.
thanks oregon guy. you posted while i was typing...are you talking 2 CAN type inline fans or like home depot duct inlines? I have one stanley blower and was going to get another to vent the tent. Maybe a duct booster type blowing into the reflector with the stanley sucking from the attic? I'm sure you used 6" duct in yours, yeah?
I saw this sale the other day and it caught my eye. wattage usage is a big problem for where im moving soon so i'm probably gonna use the tent with a 150w hps and 6 autoflowers.
maybe one day when i move again ill put a 400w in there with a couple of dwc buckets
3 fans would be nuts. My old tent was a 39x39 with a 600... air was drawn thru the filter, than thru the lamp and out of the room by a 6in canfan running at about 1/2 speed.
Like this but hang the filter in the top of the tent and hook it up to the open end of the lamp...
Here is how mine is set up, this tent is a little larger but I had the 20 X 36 set up the same way. I find that I need to get the room that the tent is in down to around 66-68 degrees to keep the tent tempature at 78-82 degrees during lights on. I am only using 2 booster type 6" fans. One fan is for the hood and one is for intake, both of these fans run 24/7 but I would like to have more air intake than I presently have. You could probably get away with less if you wanted to keep the tent open during lights on and running a regular type house fan blowing into the tent, but I like to have my tent sealed up pretty much all of the time. If you vent the hot air into your attic or use stronger inline fans, I am sure you would be fine.
I have been checking into those stanley blower fans, I might try to pick one of these up for added intake.
