Sure my man

Brightside Cheese
OG Purple Kush
FloRida OG
Ice Cream Cake
Forum Cookies

Had several others that I got from seeds that are not on that level of elite but very very good keepers, smoke that surpasses everything today with ease
Super Skunk
White Widow
All from seeds, AMS seed shops, nirvana, sensi
Everything you planted from these guys was insane
Nobody ever talked about "I hope I get a keeper" lol every pack was fire to the core

I decided to focus on my next seed runs, plant as many from one strain as I can, seeing the full potential instead of judging a 6 pack as the odds of you hitting anything worth in those random chucks of unworked lines is so rare.
Hey bud, I can relate to that myself i used to do that to for the same reason you mentioned, now I've a handful of mums I'm happy with so I've changed my method to lots of variety and see what turns up, tbh I've never been as happy with what I'm growing I'm getting lots of enjoyable weed and I've my all time favourite aswell...life's damn good 🥳

I've 21 seeds here who knows what gems they might hold 🤞

Have a great weekend folk's

Litterally all the same things being recombined over and over and over.

Uniqueness has been destroyed. Its like taking a shot of whisky and pouring a 50 gallon drum of water into it. Enjoy kiddos!

Save for a few that might be preserving the purity of old lines. Breeding starts with maintaining old "breeding stock" not chucks you chuck F's!. I am so sick of the regurgitated same old story about joe blow and his magic bagseed that is about to become the next rap musac song. Do you guys listen to the public in the crowded waiting rooms at the rec dispensaries? I cant hold a straight face in there always good for a few laughs! If I wasnt so lazy about making gummies I wouldnt have found this free stand up comedy, probably the only plus of legalization, the laughs!

I bet we have more folks doing things close to the right way here on IC than maybe the rest of the world still doing that. Long live ICmag!

Done with my ranting.

Flavour is #1 to me that's my primary reason for growing the effects are very much secondary its unimportant if it doesn't taste great lol
This is stance is a complete about face from 10-20 years ago… Flavor doesn’t get you stoned.

I remember people saying “If I want it to taste good I’ll chew a piece of gum!”

Real keepers got both to varying degrees.

I agree with this on a level.

For me I associate certain terpene profiles with certain highs. So I do chase flavors in a sense because more times than not if I find a profile I am looking for the effect gets me where I want to be.

On the flip side of that. I can say with working the OG so extensively I have found s1 plants that aren't loud at all. Very muted flavors, but the high was out of this world. It's really a crapshoot.

I get why people want to smoke something with flavor. I'm a hash smoker so I don't really have that issue. To each their own!

I agree - but there nothing wrong with good breeders making stellar F1s for growers to grow right?

In theory no, but in real life what is so stellar about it ?
Both cuts are not worked, they hold their own when you flower them, but even god almighty can't anticipate what that cross will bring out
Probably a lot of mixed trash
And that's the problem
Very basic rules no one follow today is never release a S1 if your clone is not breeding true for what makes it Elite.
Never F1 unstable clones
You should do it only if you hunt big numbers for your breeding purposes
When you sell those you are running an experiment on peoples hard earned cash and that is not cool.
Those two rules are ignored for a quick cash grab and it has destroyed the weed game completely.

Now it has resorted to me having to stabilize genetics for my own garden, but the problem is reaching those building blocks !
Think that you want to build a house with a certain type of rock but you can't find it anywhere, the first corner stone, missing
How will you build upon a missing stone ? Not possible
Every culture built on the culture before it, but building on top of this current culture ? Your house is bound to fall 😆

They technically aren't even F1. That would indicate you are crossing two distinct types.

What we are seeing is polyhybrid x polyhybrid which will ultimately result in a bottleneck of the same exact thing. Breeding depression is a real phenomenon and for some reason people keep thinking they will get something unique. While there is that 1:1,000,000 chance you will find something, it's just not worth it to me in my eyes to look for anything good in the current offerings by most breeders a la cookies gelato etc. I feel that dog needs to lay already.

I don't get involved with mind games i like flavour the end, but whatever floats your boat.

With alcohol I don't drink to get drunk, does that make me a fraud lmao

Sure probably some F1 are good you know nothing is black and white, exceptions are in everything
But as a whole the market is really not in a good place
We went from 3-4 elite keepers from a cheap 5 pack to 7-10 mids from 7-10 expensive pack.
The whole point of having many breeders is each work their own clones hard
And then Collab for a true F1 cross that will deliver something unique and new or just S1
But they became like liquor stores, selling "brands" and names
Integrity is what's missing, some self respect
Don't do to others what you don't want done to you
These breeders need to focus bro you are not the supermarket, a 300 seed catalog just make you look foolish and unprofessional
You can hold all the amazing cuts in the world it don't mean shit when you can't deliver their essence in seed form.

Potency and flavor are the same importance to me. One without the other is not something that would be keeper in my garden.. True high quality cannabis will have both. These were much more common 50 years ago. When breeding we work with plants that are missing traits all the time. You are not trying to duplicate what you start with. Improving that is the goal. Its so much more difficult to do that now than its ever been

Some recent posts on here and elsewhere have brought this question up in my circle.

What do you think of the current state of the cannabis genepool in 2024 on a macro scale? I know there are a lot of people in their own lanes doing new things, some not so much. What's your opinion? Where would you like to see it go? What can be done for more variety?

There's no wrong opinion or answer. Would love to get a consensus here on IC. I feel that this place is one of the best representations of the community, if not the best.
Gave my version to them here. Maybe we can make a difference. Thread 'Nickles Advice for New Growers (Eco-Friendly Grows)' https://www.icmag.com/threads/nickles-advice-for-new-growers-eco-friendly-grows.18133361/

It's getting that time where people need to bank enough seeds for years, kinda like survival kits and retirement plans. How bad has it got? That bad.
